i'm looking to ditch the 3.50fd that is in my 568 and switch to either a 3.85 or 3.77 out of an a523. looking for a set in good condition at a reasonable price. i'll be looking to get rid of the 3.50 as soon as it is out of the trans, so if someone is interested in trading that would work for me too. thanks.

wasnt your r/t trans originally a 3.85? i thought you had a spare even? the 3.77 is a coarse gear trans if you didnt know.i have a 3.77 523 behind my 16V masi motor in the daytona and i still prefer the 3.85 in the iroc r/t to it any day as far as gearing goes

I have a 91 3.85 523 parts transmisson. Pretty sure everything is good to go and I'd make a straight up trade.

i have two stock diffs, but i need one from a 523 so i can still run the obx.

i'm definately interested in the trade. i still have to pull the trans and get it down to brian to go through it, so it will be a few weeks. by the way, you parts are almost done. sorry for the delay with them, i'll take care of you with it since it took so long.

what year is your tranny?

my trans is 3 in one. the case and fd are an a523(not sure the year, i'd have to check if it is still legible as i blasted and powder coated the case) and all of the internals consist of two a568's both out of '92's(took the best parts from each to make one).

how are you running the r/t on a 523 case? or did u add the crank sensor hole?

Thats fine. I need to relocate the differential assembly anyways it got seperated from the rest of the transmission parts and come up with a tool to pull the rear sealed bearing off so its gonna take a few weeks on my end also. And for the two stock diffs is either one still good and not torn up or screwed with ? I bought a 90 568 and it needs some work to say the least.

i'm running megasquirt on the car, so it is strictly running off of a 36-1 wheel on the crank pulley.

i have one that has a phantom grip and arp hardware in it and the other is stock but i do not know the condition. i can check through it though.

I dont want to ever deal with another block type LSD, thats why my current differential is trashed. Side gears, pinion gears and the shaft they rotate on were all heavily galled. Stocker is fine

i just wanted to know what year, because i didnt think you could mix and match the years to much. i thought it was 90 568 and 523 only, 91 and 92 can swap, but a 93 and newer 523 wont swap into any 568?

i was gonna say something too. i thought it was 90-91 can mix and then 92-93

so a 92-93 568 hybrid would be a 3.77 fd

90-91 is a 3.50

i was a little confused myself, but i forgot he wanted to go to a 3.77 or 3.85.

they only made the 523 with the 3.50 final in 90 and 91 (rare), but also had the 3.77 and 3.85 i think?

92+ 523 i believe had coarse gear 3.77 (and maybe 3.85) final, and you dont want those for a "hybrid" because they never made a 3.50 final.

so theoretically, if im thinking correctly, he could use any year 523 for his tranny depending on the final he wants to run. but he will have to press the 523 gears off his new mainshaft (if they are still there) and press on his 568 gears from his old mainshaft (the 523 3.50 final), install his obx in the new ring gear and he should be good to go.

3.85 was only 90/91. All 92+ 523 were 3.77 only.

in bold.

the bold stuff is right.

but i thought u cant mix the 92+ stuff with the 90-91 stuff and visa versa

so if u have a early 90-91 568 hybrid its a 3.50
a late 92-93 568 hybrid is a 3.77

and if u want a 568 with a stock fd of 3.85 to use the OBX like the thread starter is interested in. i assuming you need a 90-91 568 gearset to start....

BUUUT. now that I think of it. you can make a 523/523 "hybrid". thats a 92/93 3.77 gearset on a 3.50fd...so I guess u can mix n match the 90+ stuff.
