I'm thinking that the #6 car looks like a 90-91 Cadillac STS with an air dam and blacked out headlights?

Yeah I was thinking #6 might be a Cadillac too, but maybe an Allante?

Could be, I did find references to an Allante pace car, but the height of the headlights vs the grille makes me think it is one of these:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/64/1990_STS_front.jpg

I thought it could be a Grand Prix, but the mirrors are different:

http://static.cargurus.com/images/site/2008/10/03/14/20/1987_pontiac_grand_prix-pic-30620.jpeg

And I'm thinking that a Cutlass or Grand Prix would probably have a stance similar to the #2 GN, where the #6 car seems to sit lower overall.

Still though, just guessing...

Nope... Car #5 has a better chance of being a LeBaron than #6 a P-body

That pic isn't at Indy so maybe the cars aren't on the list. There's no Daytona or GNX on that list and car 6 is definitely a Buick. It may not be a Rivera but it is a early 90s Buick I recognize the front end just can't place the name.

These are all PPG pace cars, they paced the CART series. They did not pace at Indianapolis as George correctly states above. While Indy was part of the Championship, they did their own thing with pace cars and rules (USAC officiated Indy while CART ran the rest of the championship).

I know I've got a bunch of info on these cars somewhere deep in the archives. But 100% it is a Buick. I think this picture is '87/88 or so as the Chrysler 2.2 and the Ford probe 'protoypes' did not make many appearances in the '90s. Maybe over the holidays I can dig it out.
