View Full Version : How can you ID a SMEC if the numbers on the sticker are too far faded to read?

Anyone know if there's a definitive way to identify a SMEC with a bad label? It looks like it could be: 2265 386 8833

None of these number sets match the pdf list someone was nice enough to compile.

Would there be further id if I opened the case?

For the record, this is in a Dakota 2.5 mitsu turbo, g head manual trans with no ac or cruise. At the swap meet this was supposed to have been an 89 2.5 daytona T2 SMEC but the harness plug had the neutral safety switch wire that indicates (to me anyhow) that it was out of an automatic.

There is a sticker on the EPROM with the last 3 digits of the P/N (which also happens to be the cal ID code). If you open the case, you can usually read the code thru the potting compound. You may have to clean it up a bit.

I believe if you power it up, a DRB will display the Cal ID.
