OK guys. Let's try to keep this one on track. We need to plan for the next meeting. How about we just go bowling again and relax. I believe Sunday the 12th is the next meet day. Same place as last time or somewhere else? Anyone have any other ideas? I'm open to any other offer of where to meet. I still have about 8 lbs of dust on my car from the last meet. I need an excuse to get it washed up but it's been too dang cold. Post up guys. Just keep it on track. Later. Steve

Per request, I'm adding this link to the Lin-Oma Bluff Chapter calendar (https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=t7kunerma8unk0c37nml358al4%40group.calen dar.google.com&ctz=America/Chicago)

I vote for 3 places if we bowl:
Western bowl off of 132nd and L
MapleWood 102nd and maple
westlanes 72nd and dodge.

All are fine with me.

Western bowl is fine with me because it's closer. I'm off to work until midnight. Can someone call the 2 places and see if there are open lanes on Sunday? Lots of league play I would assume.

I believe I should be able to make it. I wonder if we should call to see if we can reserve some lanes. I remember that was an issue with Maplewood the last time we bowled, that all the lanes were booked, and why we ended up going to Kelley's Hilltop Bowl (the "Ghetto" place!!! :) ).

we should have a gag gift exchange. Package up any radom TM part and bring it. We could also have one of those exchanges where you can choose to steel someone elses gift or pick from the pile.

How about just make it an automotive-related gift. Maybe $10 or less, or just something automotive-related you have on hand (like a TM part!). The gift exchanges I've participated in usually just put all the gifts (wrapped or in a bag) in a pile, and each person randomly draws a numbered slip of paper (sequential numbered slips made up before-hand). The person who gets #1 goes first, #2, second, and so on. The first person has to pick a random gift from the pile, but the subsequent participants have the choice of either picking an unknown, unopened gift from the pile, or "stealing" one from someone who has already opened theirs (and everyone has seen what they received). If a gift is "stolen", the person who lost it gets to then either pick another unopened gift from the pile, or steal someone else's opened gift. The next turn then goes to the person who has the next number, until everyone has picked (or stolen) a gift. Limits are placed on how many times a gift can be "stolen". It's a lot of fun!

I called Western Bowl, and they said they don't reserve lanes. He said it generally isn't very busy on Sundays at noon-time though, and shouldn't be a problem to get one or two lanes then. Assuming we want to also do a gift exchange, should we just bring the gifts to the bowling alley, and do it there after we bowl? Or possibly go to a restaurant afterward, and do the exchange there?

I'm working 6 days a week and Sunday is my only day off. Church in the morning, 12:00 bowling and have to be back at church by 6:00. Not much time for family. I'll have to pass on anything after bowling. I say we bring it to the alley. I'll see if I can find something. At least car related.

Who's still planning on coming to the bowling/ gift exchange meet today? I hope we can still get a good turnout, despite the weather.

I'm pretty much all out of TM parts (unless you count the Shelby CSX Mobile One engine oil plaque, which I really didn't want to part with!). However, I did find what I think is a very nice gift, for well under $10. For those of you who like getting hints about gifts, it is automotive-related, and even partially Shelby Dodge related! You'll have to show up to the meet to find out what it is. Who knows, you could even be the lucky recipient (unless it's stolen from you!!!) :eyebrows:

Anybody up for two meets this month, one in Lincoln and one in Omaha? The 2011 Midlands International Auto Show runs from January 20th to 23rd at the Qwest Center. Who's interested in going? I'd suggest Sunday the 23rd. See http://www.omahaautoshow.com for more info.

Nate, have you come up with any ideas for a Lincoln meet? I'm thinking that a planning meeting, to plan meets and events for the upcoming year, might be a good idea. I think it would be easier to attract new members if we could plan the meets further in advance, and publicize a schedule here on Turbo-Mopar.com and on a Linoma-Bluffs SDAC web site. Maybe meet at a restaurant in Lincoln (of Nate's choosing!), try to get as many members to come as possible, and try to hash out a schedule of what we want to do for a meet for each month.

I'll probably make the Lincoln one but not the Omaha show. I only get Sundays off with the family so 2 of 4 days would not be good. Our next meet is this weekend so hurry up and decide so everyone can try to make it for a change.

I noticed that the Minnesota SDAC (MNSDAC) group has posted their monthly schedule for 2011 in the "SDAC Chapters" forum. I think it would be a good idea to do something similar. We wouldn't necessarily have to plan each month right away, but at least try to plan the next several months, and other months that we know what we want to do (such as annual car shows like the Mopar one). Opinions?

Sounds like a good idea, our group is so small that it is hard to accommodate everyones needs that far in advance. I guess with everyone being able to plan ahead maybe more of us would be able to make the meets? Maybe also make more Events as a group such as the WOW and other activities?

glhs231
01-07-2011, 01:03 PM
Are we doing anything this weekend or doing the car show later? It's only a couple of days away and no plans are made. Another last minute meet that no one will be able to make because they had other plans. You do realize that this is the 2nd Sunday of the month coming up, right?

86Shelby
01-07-2011, 01:27 PM
I'm interested in the WOW show in Omaha the weekend of the 22nd. It's simply too short of notice for much of anything this weekend. Brian suggested Sunday the 23rd, so lets go with that. It's plenty of notice to make room in people's schedule. I'll ask for it off when I get my schedule this afternoon.

How about 12:00 noon, and meet in the Qwest lobby at the area where they sell/collect tickets for the show? It's generally right in front of the door to the exhibition hall. The price is $8.00, and $1.00 discount coupons are available through local car dealers. I'll try to get some and bring them with me. If I find any lower discounted tickets or better coupons, I'll post the details here. According to the show web site there will be some classic cars, hot rods, and motorcycles, as well as new cars.

I'm not making 2 meets. Like I said earlier, I only have 4 days off a month to be with the family. I like you guys but not enough to give 1/2 of my days off to be with you. I thought we were doing the car show because no one made plans for our regular meet.

Well it looks like we would go bowling March 13th. Western bowl is about Millard Ave and 132nd on that access road. April 10th we talked about doing go carts in C.B. May 14th is the all Mopar show at Pay Pal. Keep in mind that is a Saturday for those of us that work. May need to use a vacation day so plan in advance. That's as far as we got. I won't make the June meeting probably as we are coming back from the Smokey Mnts. Still seeing if I have enough vacation time to do SDAC. Speaking of which, how about we use an online calendar to keep track of meetings.

Like this one for example: http://www.keepandshare.com/calendar/show_month.php?i=1608672&lang=

If that's posted in the first post, then we don't have to scroll through pages to find the next meeting place/time. If you guys create accounts, then send me your username, I can add you to the list of people who are able to edit the calendar. That way we can list other car related shows/events/etc

I called Joe's and talked to Bud. He said there is a large group coming in at 2:00. 25 or more people. We need to see how many are coming and try for noon or 1:00 at the latest so we can get some racing done. Helmets and hairnets are included in the price. He can get a group rate if we let him know how many. I'm one. Who else?

Looks like I am going to SDAC. I can't afford my own room so who has an extra bed? If not I will pick a cheaper place to stay nearby. Also, they aren't giving much of a discount unless you got a better deal than what was listed. AAA discount is like $77.00 a night I think. That isn't with taxes and maybe the SDAC price is with taxes. Thanks, Steve.

I didn't want to have a bunch of different prices so I asked them to quote for "any room up to 4 people in the room". So one of the cheaper rooms with only 1 or 2 people in it will be less.

But if folks would help us out it will be appreciated. If they register in the SDAC block (and maybe pay a couple bucks more per night), SDAC gets credit for the room sale. If we sell enough room/nights, then we get a break on the rooms we book for our use, and for the price of the meeting space we rent. Those costs could well come in at about $1500 so the savings is important to us. If we don't get enough room/nights sold, then we pay the full boat for our use.

I called there and they said it was the same price for 1 or 4. I thought it would be cheaper for 1 or 2 but it's the same price. The rooms were $81.00 to $83.00 on various sites without any AAA discounts or any other discounts. That's why I brought it up. I thought they would at least match that because of all the people coming. I can understand if they are giving a discount on the meeting rooms. Thanks, Steve.

So would I be sharing with Ray or Amber? Makes a difference you know. I talked with Kaleb today and I was trying to talk him into coming to SDAC. He could ride with me and maybe split a room. Still waiting to see if Kaleb is going. Haven't heard from him. I thought we would talk at a meeting but it didn't happen. Ray might ride with me unless he goes with Adam or drives his own car. I was hoping we could get together before going to talk about everything. As far as I know I think leaving early would be fine. I'll follow you up as I don't like to push it too hard anyway. Nice, easy pace and fewer stops always works for me. Ray, let me know if you are riding with me. Kaleb, post up so we know if you are coming. I hope you can. Well, you know how little leg room there is in the back seats of either of my cars, so anyone riding with me will have to fight Amber for shotgun. And no AC either way.

glhs231
06-14-2011, 10:25 AM
Kaleb isn't going so Ray can ride with me. Ray, can you get a ride to Omaha. If not you can probably park your car here at my place or Jeff's. His is closest to the interstate. Crud! Just remembered that the interstate is closed that way. We have to go the route past Mall of the Bluffs in CB. I don't know when Brian is going up. He's taking his family i believe. How about Cabelas off 126th & I 80 at 6:30? We could meet Jeff somewhere along the way so he doesn't have to drive out of his way. Ideas anyone?

forcedfedmopar
06-14-2011, 11:03 AM
My house is fine, actually if you wanted to park it in my garage while we were gone you could, i think it should be empty. It would be blocked by beckys van i think. Also. north 680 is closed so we will have to take 80 across the river through CB. Then it should be smooth sailing on 80 til IL then 88 (toll road) on in pretty much.
When I was traveling back and fourth to chicago my first stop was always in iowa city, or just before it.
630 sounds good to me. Ill around then and you all will catch up with me.

Oh no, no worries about the time. And in all reality, Fridays are usually very late nights for me at work, so it could very well work out that by the time I get home, shower, clean up the car, check it over, and load it up, it will be about 4 anyway.

Besides, I kinda revel in this sort of thing. In '06 when we drove to Vegas, I worked a full 12 hour shift, got off at 7am, went home and showered, packed, picked up the rental ('06 Charger R/T), loaded up, and hit the road about 10am. I drove all the way to Denver, sat through a 3 hour NIN concert, and then still drove to the continental divide before I gave up the wheel. Ended up being about 38 hours before I finally slept.

Chicago will be a piece of cake.

I may go in the morning, but I'd have to leave around 11. Not sure it's worth the drive... if I see ya- great. If not enjoy the show!

glhs231

We could cruise up to Arlington to my friend's place and have ice cream and/or food. Some of us went last year. Then go over to Ft. Calhoun to Missouri Lake. I mean river. My car hasn't been out since SDAC. Haven't even washed it up yet.

I was up in Arlington Saturday. She is closed on Sundays. We can still meet at the lighthouse though.

Bring old bread.(Not moldy). We can go to Schram Park and feed the geese and fish. Then go to Louisville for some ice cream. Then go through South Bend on hwy 64 or 66, past the Interstate and wind up back by Ashland. Lincoln guys can go left and Omaha, CB guys turn right. If you want to skip the ice cream we could do Parker's.

Sounds fun to me. Dunno if I'll be bringing the Charger or not. If I do, it will be dirty. The umm . . . hatch area isn't exactly water tight after today.

Not that it was before either.

Throwing out another suggestion. How about Friday night at Culver's on 27th St. in Lincoln? I've been wanting to go down there and maybe we can use that as our meeting. Looks like Sunday is going to be busy for me but I may be able to get away for a little while.

Looks like rain Friday in Lincoln as of now. If it is raining there will be no car show. Should we plan on Sunday cruise instead or still meet at Culver's in Lincoln. Cruise won't get the cars as dirty. You know how I hate cleaning my car. Sunday forecast looks good.

Either is fine with me too. Maybe we should wait on Linoma until later in the fall, to try to find a day when as many as possible can come (at least if we want to take an updated group picture with everyone's cars). Regardless, we need to get this decided. Unless someone objects, let's meet at Steve's at 1:00pm. Check out the car show, and maybe do lunch somewhere.

Who has ideas for a September Meet? Maybe a cruise somewhere (Linoma Beach?). There is also the annual "Last Fling 'til Spring Car Show" in West Point, NE on Sunday, Sept. 18th. I've attended the show twice, and really enjoyed it. It's a large one, and attracts a very wide variety of vehicles. For more info, see http://www.roadgems.com . For those wanting to enter a vehicle, there's a $20 registration fee, and registration needs to be received by Sept. 12th. For registration info, see http://www.roadgems.com/registration.htm

If anyone else is interested in entering a vehicle but hasn't done so yet, you still have through tomorrow, Sept. 14th, if you register online. The online registration link is: http://www.motortopia.com/car-shows/last-fling-til-spring-car-show-4051 . Is anyone else here planning on entering a car, or attending as a spectator?
