Yup, sure do. Now that I figured out all that I got. Had to send pics to Ed to verify it all.

Lowered prices. GF is bitching about having car parts in the house again.

Tell her to stop... If the prices come down much more she's going to force me to buy stuff I can't afford!:D

Any flow numbers on the head? What valves does it have, stock or oversized?

chipdogg
11-23-2010, 09:54 PM
I don't really know much about the head. No flow numbers, don't wanna pull the valves to measure them. I just know it came from Ed and it's been in it's box since October 1997. The newspaper is dated. Head looks like it was just assembled and machined. Ports look to have been worked on. That's all I know. Previous owner is no longer around to ask.

Any lower and I'm giving it away. The pistons sell new for $499 without the coatings. These are new, coated, and come with new/reman rods (I dunno which but they look new), and rings for same price. I just don't need any TD stuff. I have 3 built Neon engines and 2 cars to put them in, plus the one already in my purple one that ran 14.1's 2 months ago.

What bolts are in the rods? If they are ARP, are they wave lock, or standard?

chipdogg

They are ARP, how do I tell if they are wave lock or standard? They are black, and are a stud I guess. The nut comes off instead of the entire bolt.

It looks like he may have balanced the rods/pistons. The rods and pistons are numbered, and the rods look have some material removed from the bottom of the cap. Same way Ed told me to balance the engine I'm putting together.

If you can get the cap off chances are they are non wave lock, if the caps are impossible to get off they are probably wave locks. The wave lock bolts have a sort of wavy shape to the shaft after the threaded part.

Those pistons sound like a great deal. I'm interested, but have to wait until after Christmas.

If anyone has a decent sized (20g or bigger) t3/t4 turbo that's ready to use, I'd consider it in trade possibly. Picked up an 05 SRT-4 engine and have pretty much everything but a big enough turbo for it.

Oil pump sold.

If you want the intermediate shaft, oil pickup tube, oil pan, or intake manifold make an offer. Otherwise they'll likely get tossed in the next Neon I scrap out.

A heads up! I haven't heard from the seller since he got my payment and said he would send a tracking number. I'll update you when I hear from him again.

You got tracking number today, check PM's, as did Dan H (pistons/rods) and Warren Stramer (oil pump). Sorry for the delay, post office was closed by the time I could get to it all week from working late.

Only stuff left is the stock stuff. Oil pan, intake manifold, intermediate shaft. Make offers, I'm picking up another Neon to part out this weekend and they'll end up in there by end of next week if nobody wants them.

Update: Got tracking number. Sorry for being so quick on the trigger, but I've been burned before. Thanks Chip

No problem, I've been burned more than enough times too. Especially by new people with cool parts you always gotta be careful.

OK. I always thought everyone did first dibs, but understand if someone else had the entire amount right away.
Not sure I would have done the same thing, but whatever.

chipdogg

How do you know you had first dibs? Just cuz you call dibs doesn't mean you get stuff. Gotta have money too. Sorry man. I guarantee you wouldn't pass up someone with cash in hand for someone who would pay you later.

I got the Ed Peter's head today, and it's a beaut! Obviously very professionaly done (and carefully stored) with the assembly lube still fresh looking, shiny new bronze guides, etc.

Thanks Chip!

It would be very interesting to see what he did and what kind of flow numbers are possible with it... hint, hint;)

I flow benched a Ed Peters swirl head many years ago for a friend. This was a stock valved head. Poor valve job. Intake was just okay, exhaust was marginal gains. I remember it got really turbulent above .450 lift, flow went backwards! You might find it interesting to see what he did, but IMO it would be a mistake to emulate it! I'm hoping John's head is better than the one I had flowed.

I always thought everyone did first dibs

this is what people over at TD.com do and its really annoying and childish.
you cant just claim " DIBS! " on an item because you said so and im on the sellers side, whoever has money first and do the transaction theyll get the item
