well early july my down pipe cracked on my 91 spirit rt with 50trim. At a stop the inside of the car would smell like exhaust. So i finally got around to making a new one last night.
The old one was a crushed bent 2.5in piece of crap.

So now that i have some fab skills under my belt i decided to throw together a 3 in piece.

I welded a v band with a short addapter on the WG housing. then its full 3inch all the way! I opened up the wg housing hole-downpipe hole almost 3/8 inch. Should flow better as well as last longer. more servicable now and more importantly...its quite and doesnt smell in the car again!

You're gonna need a flex joint in there, or the new downpipe will crack too eventually.

haha im too cheap to buy a $15-20 90* turn. I can make it and at least this way i can go whatever direction i want!

Thanks for the comments guys. The turbo is def happier. Feels alittle more responsive with a noticable 100 rpm difference in spool time. I havent payed close attention but it has deffinetly helped!

 yea yea. I took it to the shop to change the leaking water pump and check a squeek that has been driving me crazy. i wasnt intending on making a new down pipe. but you know how that goes.

Can you get mandrel bent piping and for how much? what sizes?
