Who said it's 16v and masi?

I have the magazine back in the day when the editor got to drive it (one of the twins) and it's a big article (rare find on my part, too) The car is called "Nadine" and was NA and I am pretty sure it was the 8v ohc "raised runner" casted IMSA head.

Steve, I'm with Clay, don't care 'bout the facts; I never knew about the car, therefore don't remember, so yeah, it was a 16v Masi. LOL

That is absolutely correct. The cars were built as a 245hp NA 8v. I guess they were maybe upgraded with masi head later in life or when Full Time Racing sold them off.

Yep, that's the guys site :thumb:

meh' its been a few years, not surprising it has a more powerful motor, shame its not an SRT based 2.4 though hey... The add says comes with original 305hp motor, i guess that's the later Masi engine..

Now running with turboed Acura RSX-S, 375 hp in enduro tune. Fittings for original 305 hp Chrysler engine included.

Doesn't necessarily include motor, just fittings (mounts??)

I would guess that it does not come with the correct engine.

Remember talking to the guys about these cars back in the mid-80s when they had the one and only grand prix race in Del Mar, hasn't been one since. The article pretty much sums up what they told my brother and I. Would be nice if they had the Masi to go with the car.

Interesting enough these cars were run out of Birmingham Al. Their engine shop was run by my college roommate who is doing the engine for my T-1 Omni NHRA stocker.

We were looking at the stocker heads and he made the comment that the ports had been welded up and reported to increase flow on their heads not custom cast. They ran 2.4 engines because they could only get weight down to around 1700# even with max reduction, tube chassis and carbon fiber. They used production blocks with bore about .060 over and a custom crank to get 2.4. Had cylinder wall spliting problems. They made around 220 HP. He said the Mopar performance blocks had extra weight in all the wrong places. Didn't use them. Some of this info may be a little out of date because I think he moved on to NASCAR toward the end of their run. We talked about doing a T-2 stocker but decided not to because of being inconsistent and breakage with straight drive. They had custom straight cut gears for the earlier IMSA FWD cars and custom shifter utilizing marine shift control cables. Charlie Cook who built the cars still has one of the cars and works as Tech man for maybe SCCA? Keep in mind this is from my memory of a few months and his of 20 years. Phil Turner
