1998 Plymouth Neon Expresso Sedan. 5 speed manual, 2.0L DOHC 4 cylinder. Fully loaded with power windows, power locks, power mirrors, power sunroof, and more. Clutch is in good condition. Tires in good condition too. Runs and drives great. Recent timing belt, front brakes, water pump, fuel pump, and radiator. Car has around 173,000 miles on it. Pretty clean inside and out. I'd like to get $1500 for it but I'll accept best offer. Would like to sell ASAP since I need to clear out for moving. Please note windshield is cracked on the passenger side and, like all Neons, the sunroof doesn't function properly. It doesn't leak though so nothing to worry about. Also, added rear sway bar from Neon ACR for improved handling. I used to own this car a while ago, buddy bought it from me but also moved out of state so gave it to me to sell.

Someone HAS to buy this car. The 98s with 5 speed were rated at 41 mpg and at 55 mph with their tires pumped up to the max air pressure they would get it...equal to the stupid 3 banger Smart car. With a underdrive pulley kit, street header, and a home made CAI I was getting 43! If I was not committed on buying a friends 95 that I have drag raced twice and made money both times (Including winning the Stick Shift Nationals) I'd get my wife to drop me over and pick it up!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think a dohc with a 3.94 would get 41mpg on the highway. I usually manage 36-38 with my 98 sohc 3.55 at 60ish mph.

It does get killer gas mileage! I hope someone buys it soon! The guy with the R/T wanted to know if I wanted to trade my car AND $1000 for his... which I don't even have so... no thanks.

Personally, I do not want or need any trades for this. Just that green stuff called CA$H! :)

All of the 98s with the 5 speeds were rated at 41 mpg....and if driven at 55 on a long trip with no red lights it would get that. Putting in a CAI and underdrive pulley will get you a good 43!

"All of the 98s with the 5 speeds were rated at 41 mpg....a"

I had a 98 DOHC 5-speed 2 door.... I would get well in the 30's with the thing around town, driving very spiritedly.. It was even quicker than my 02 ACR and seemed to be comfortable pulling from 1500-2000RPM where my ACR just doesn't like to be.

I'm disappointed I sold it to a friend that neglected it and cracked the head.

The "regular" '98 Neon 5 speeds were 3.55 ratio where the '98 R/Ts and ACRs were 3.94s. I could believe a 3.55 car could get 41mpg. My R/T window sticker says 41 but there's no way with the quicker ratio. I don't think they rerated them. The best I've ever gotten (with UDP, Iceman, auto throttle body, but Mopar computer) is 34.5mpg.

Come to think of it, that one should have a 3.94 with .72 fifth so It might be possible to hit 40mpg.

All SOHC 5spds where 3.55 with exception being ACR Sedan.ALL DOHC where 3.94 with R/T's and ACR's having the different 5th Ratio.

Remember what I said....driven on long distances at 55 mph....the VAST majority of us do not do that. My SRT4 had gotten 36 twice like that with the Enforcer 1 turbo and stage 2 no toys, but with the stage 3 turbo it dropped to 33....at 55 only! One day when you have NOTHING to do just fill the car up to where the gas shuts itself off on low speed....then drive it 300 miles round trip back to the same pump that you filled up at and refill it the same way. You will be shocked at what these cars can do when just putting around. Too bad Old Matchbox only gets 23 on the highway....no matter how slow it goes!

FWIW, i got 40mpg with a 99 r/t. This was even with the mopar performance computer. It might have been a freak car, tho... but I would believe the claim of 41 based off the r/t's mpgs.

I think you did the math wrong ;)

I'm not making it up. Although that particular tank was ALL freeway. I did the math like 5 times cause i couldn't beleive it. ha! It did average mid to high 30's normally.

Sometimes the math is scewed by topping off more/less or different stations auto-shut off toleance

I saw mid 30's average when I was driving my r/t 120 miles a day back and forth to work.It was hard to get it any higher due to the DC traffic. My R/T window sticker says 29 city and 41 highway,I still have it and its mint ,it was never stuck on the car.The truck was on the truck being offloaded when I stopped and bought it.!Wish I still had the car.
