Somebody buy my Shelby Lancer 771, so I can justify to my wife, buying this, I've got #2 CSX-T coming back to me from Idaho this spring with fresh paint. I use to own, one of the IMSA CSX-t that Tim Costello bought from me awhile back.

The 87 you are referring to, is that the the one that, Rick Johnson bought years ago out of Arizona that use to be the Sue Stoney race car given to her by Shelby Auto that had been painted black? If so I owned that one for a few months, it had power mirrors too, I pulled the motor out of it and put it in an 88 CSX-T that eventually ended up down in New Mexico with Neil Emiro and a TIII motor, I ended up trading the 87 CSX to Joe Anderson in Seattle area for something, Its pretty sad that I can not remember what. I've had way too many cars obviously. I know I got a print out from Chrysler on that car at one time, is showed the car sold to a Shelby Dealership in Southern California then purchased by Shelby Automobiles. They did an excellent job paining it, you could hardly tell it had been red except just a few spots in the engine bay that had got scratched up and under the door panels.

Hey glhs399- you didn't say that that was a factory race car, (that's what i've found in research from the previous owners)...so the roll cage/fuel cell/ etc is/was factory intsalled.... That kicks the value way up...............

Not the Chump car. The chump is a 87.

Curr ently, I am just kidding around. Since my stroke in October, I am my main project. I need to walk and talk normally to take on another project. You have a good price on the car, as I recall, it costs about that much to ship a running car that far. Right now, I am just dreaming of having a second CSX.

Is this the one that was the Thrifty race car?????
Thought it was just a shell. If it is, you must have did a lot of work on it to bring it back!

You are correct Johnny! I swapped a few of the pieces that were butchered and put them on the Chump CSX. I'll even throw in a extra grill, and what any other parts that you need that I have!

Then that is the car that was raced/driven by the Thrifty president! The when racing was over, Chrysler and Shelby freshened up the car and gave it to him.

Last call on the CSX. I local Portlander wants to turn this into a chump car. I would rather not see it raced where it's going to eventually get banged up. The car is way too straight. Price is very negotiable depending on who it is being sold to and what there plans are for the car. Contact me asap.

Joe or otherwise....

Can you guys provide any documentation to this car? I was wondering if it was the the other team car to mine but it is not

I finally got a answer from Joel Jackson Chasis build for the IMSA CSX-T cars

"Tim
Based on the pictures and information, no this is not the other car
Joel"

What series did this car run in?

Tim

Ran in SCCA road race I believe.
I know it had 29 on the door, or maybe it was 34...can't remember.
Not when I saw the car, but photos that came with the car when the
President of Thrifty sold it to my friend Mike.

Johnny,

I would expect them to have done the same as they did for the IMSA series cars 29.95 and 34.95 on the doors. Can you put me in touch with Mike? I'm wondering if he remembers the Thrifty Pres. name and is there any info on my car still kicking around.

I found this vintage photo of Joel with my car ... after installing the cage.. Check out the differences in the cage and the camber plates

So I am the new owner of this car ( 88 csx-t # 3 ).

What did it look like when the president of thrifty owned it?

Was it really a turbo II car from the beginning,with a 555 ( 1 of 2 so equipped ) ?

Would the picture (a couple of posts down) be close to what it may have looked like ( back in its early days )?

Should I restore it to that, any input or comments?

Thanks,Joe

With its big history,I thought there would be a million pictures of it floating around.

Back in those days, developing film was expensive and people held back from too many pictures.

Sure wish digital cameras were strong in the 80's and early 90's,
it would have made researching shelbys a bit easier.

People did take pictures in those days, but they have thrown most of it in the garbage can ( after selling car ).

These days the cars are much older, and all the previous owners have thrown out most of
the original data.

It will just get much harder as the cars get older, and trying to keep track of the
records/pictures/special cars.

I've been researching mine for years... What a pain! ... I have some SCCA books from that time period but I've yet to come across this one... I don't have every issue though...
