K.. Electrically tallented folks... 90 daytona 2.5 TI. Unplug the temp sending unit, fan turns on, car running it will not.

What should I do???

Thanks

The fact that it turns on when you unplug the sensor shows that the wiring is good. Maybe a bad sensor, if it didn't show the computer the rioght temp then the fan wouldn't turn on.

My thoughts too... Next test after she cools down.

More issues... Showing a 27 and 37 code. Didn't do it before the engine rebuild. Hmmm... Going to swapo a Baro unit in as well. as for the code 27. Don't have a spare harness... need one..

What year car? I know my dad's got a bunch of harness' he's selling, including a bunch of injector harness' as well.

1990 TI 2.5L daytona. If he has one and a SBEC for it, I'll buy them... What other Injector harnesses. With the variety of cars I have.. Nice to have spares.

I don't think we have a 90 harness, we just had a 91 2.5 shadow in the garage for a bunch of work and the one thing we didn't replace was the inj. harness because we didn't have one. Not 100% sure that they're the same from 90 to 91, but I'm pretty sure.

I'm working on a list of the other inj. harness' right now.

Update... Cleared codes. Took more (longer) with the 90 ECU than I'm used to. Code 37 (baro solenoid) immediatly popped up after starting car. Solenoid has 30 ohmn's stenciled on the top. it tested at 30...

I hate electrical. Need to let her run and test the fan again with a different sensor... Looks like I might need to swap solenoids as well...

UPdate... Thanks to Russ's Mini mopar site.. I verified the solenoid is functioning as it should be... Even made sure by cleaning it.

Electrical connections cleaned as well... Back to the drawing board.

Updated again. Swapped coolant temp sensor with a good one. Same thing... Unplugged fan comes on and it quits blowing the pressure cap. Plugged in no fan and coolant out the cap.

Get ahold of a scanner and see if coolant temp is registering correctly at the SBEC. The fact that the fan comes on when you unplug the sensor shows that the fan wiring is ok. However, if the coolant temp sensor wires are corroded somewhere, it'll throw off the voltage that the SBEC sees.

Injector harnesses are the same between 90/91 and they're still available from Mopar. I bought one last year at it was like $80 or so.
