has any one tried this
The above section covers a modification to prevent unintentional 3-4 and 4-3 shifts when you step on the brake pedal. The
brake switch sends a 12 volt signal to Pin #49 of the TCM to cause this. While this can be very unnerving when stepping on the
brake pedal, and the previous procedure corrects this, you have an option of being able to lock out fourth gear at highway speeds (such as driving through the hills) without having to tolerate the late 2-3/3-2 shift pattern of the regular
'D' shifter position.
You need to mount a MOMENTARY connecting, not grounding, switch in the instrument panel, or somewhere convient. Run a 5 amp fused wire from a 12 volt circuit to one side of the switch. Run another wire from the other side of the switch to TCM Pin #49. Modification is complete. A momentary switch such as Radio Shack part #275-609 at a cost of $2.99 for a package of 2 will do the trick.
Now, when you are in the 'O/D' shifter position, in fourth gear, if you hit the new switch the unit will shift to third and stay there
as long as you don't downshift or come to a stop. If you want fourth gear back, (and you're still going fast enough) just hit the
switch again.
