Saturday October 23rd. We will meet up starting about 10am but be there by 11am (rain or shine) in the Kohl's shopping center parking lot on Lee Rd, just behind the Wendy's. Get there in time to get your morning coffee or snack at McD's across the street.

Lee Rd is exit 58 off of US-23. It is the first exit south of I-96.

We will pass out maps and directions before leaving there about 11am or so. It is about a 2 hour drive through some of the hilliest and twistiest roads in SE Michigan, ending up at a McDonalds in Ypsilanti Mich.

Everyone is invited! And it is 100% free!

Put in a new window track on the Daytona just for this (not like it didn't need to be done) in preparation for a rainy morning!

Yeah, looks good to go. I can't count how many times we've started in the rain and then it got beautiful partway through the drive.

I drove the route yesterday to check for construction or detours and it was great. They've even repaved the road to Hell! That road has been rough for a many years.

We had 13 cars turn out for it. I didn't expect that many considering the weather forecast.

And the weatherman was wrong again. It started raining about 9:30 - 10am and sprinkled on and off for another hour.

When we left the parking lot, it was sprinkling enough for need of wipers. But about the time we finished the first leg (going to Hell) we got dry pavement and pretty much stayed that way for the rest of the drive.

Lots of SRT/4 Neons this year, more than all the others added together. A couple of them were very quick too!

And again it was a ton of fun!

I'm glad everybody had fun, safely, with no tickets or serious breakdowns.

I can't take all the credit for this, only some. Former Great Lakes Chapter President, Carsten Ramcke, suggested this event in 1998. While the route has changed some since then Carsten and I had a lot of fun driving and planning the course for the first run.

Carsten has been out of the SD scene for some years now, but pops up every once in a while. I heard from him just this last week. He can be found at his current endeavor Great Event Tours (http://www.greateventtours.com/). His love for trains and model railroading preceded his love for Omni's and he is now fortunate to make his living from his favorite hobby. :D
