Does anybody know where I can get a sfi approved flexplate. The only company that I found that made them has now quit. I guess a lack of demand will do that. The kicker is the part was only 179.00. Also anybody know the ARP numbers for flexplate and TQ bolts?

I think the tooth count is different but I don't mess with the newer stuff. I will give them a call tomorrow and find out. Thanks

The 2.0 / 2.4 flexplate is smaller. The starter pinion will not engage the ring gear. I have both styles and it is a noticable difference. If enough of us call Hughes, they will make them with the bigger ring gear.

Well I haven't been able to find a SFI approved one. So does anybody know where to get a thicker than stock flexplate. I have way to much money in this setup to put a stock flexplate in there. I don't want it to break and tear everything up.

The stock flexplate is actually fine. I notice on *very* rare occations that the center cracks away from the outter area. That is from vibration, not high HP. The stock one is good for 800 HP, maybe more? Hughes transmission makes them in house for the Neon's, so they *could* make them for the 2.2 / 2.5 as well.

Well I tryed Hughes and they said no go. I did talk to Forward Motion and they said I can have a custom one made. The price isn't that bad either.

Hughes told me a while ago that they need a big enough order to make the dies to stamp them....... I didn't think of FM though. Hopefully they can get it done for you.

That is the only thing I'm worried about. But what other choice do I have. This is the last piece I need to get before putting the motor in.

Personally, I wouldn't think twice and trust turbojerry's opinion.
How much HP do you plan to make?

How much HP do you plan to making. I know the motor will make 600hp hoping to get it up around 800hp. I also don't want the tracks not letting me run because of the flexplate not being sfi approved.

What is your setup?

T3 with forg. pistons, alum rods, full race port head,FWD adjustable cam gears, cometic head gasket,1/2 head studs, tial wastegate, equal length header,LWP intake, 72lb injectors(to start with), SDS electronics, race built 413 w/3800 stall, 75mm 5.0 tb, snow water/alchol injection, 60-1 stage5 turbo in a 87 GLHS. I know the turbo is a little small for 800hp but that's what i'm starting with. This car is going to be street legal and didn't want the huge lag of a full t4 on the street. If the car doesn't run the numbers the intake is tapped for a direct port NOS and I will change to a full t4 turbo.

Was this car built for you by Stephane?

No the only thing he built was the header.

What type of flex plate does Stephane run? Is it an option to have him make one up if it is custom? He passes NHRA tech inspections, so whatever he runs should be good for you as well. I was there when he rebuilt his tranny at the track, but don't remember what the flexplate looked like.
Good luck finding one :thumb:, your car sounds like it will be quick :)

The driveshaft shop is building me a set to handle 1000hp. 24.5 slicks for the track and 225 series for the street. The car has a set of Koni coilovers so I may try to run a wider drag rad. on the street. The car also has a complete 89 Daytona Shelby brake system with spindles and bolt in bearings.
