I am so pleased, excited!!!!!!!
Finished the 230v wiring today in my shop back to the welding room (100 ft of expensive wire).
Tried my new welder. AMAZING!!!!!!
It works so well compared to the 115v one I have been using. I was going
to keep the 115v one for a back up, nope. Its going on craigslist Sunday morning.
The 115v one was fine for mild steel, but I had 100 engine mounts to weld that are a combo of mild steel and stainless. Needed a bigger, more powerful welder.
Its the difference between a pro and a toy.
The 115v is a Miller 135 model, the new one is a Miller 180 model.
Got a lot of welding done this evening, until I ran out of gas.
Going to go in the morning to get the bottle filled.

Have not needed weld aluminum, but if I do need to, I hear that does work very well.

I have a 180 machine and love it.Even with it turned down, it can be hard on thin metal(most are I know). When it comes to welding the subframe or thicker parts, it rocks!

How thin have you gone and it works?

How thin have you gone and it works?Let me clarify that I am running flux core right now. Haven't got the bottle filled yet, but I have been able to weld 18ga but it is a little hairy. I would think that with argon, one should be able to tack 20-22ga without burning through.

with .023 wire (er 70 s-6) and a 75%argon 25% c02 mix you will not have any issues welding thin stuff until you get close to 1/8 inch. i run .023 for thin, .035, for intermediate, and .045 dualshield flux core for heavy stuff (5/16 plus). i have heard a lot of good things about the new 180's good buy man. the thing to watch with the spool gun is as the 1lbs spool gets low the wire will start to exit the tip crooked, this is worse with 4043, 5356 is a more flexible, less "springy" wire.

Oh, cr-p, the welder stopped working the second day. The shield gas stopped coming out. My new welder broke already. I checked the flow, it was going into the machine but not out of the nozzle. Well, I took off this morning at 3:30 am to get the the repair guy in a town 105 miles away by 6am. He thought it might be a solenoid that was bad. Well he took a look at it and it was ONLY the stinger had come out slightly and the o-ring wasn't sealing. A 10 second fix. I feel kind o stupid. But very glad it wasn't really broke.
