I want to give my 99' 3.3 Grand Voyager a little more grunt for not much $$$....so I found a 3.8 58mm throttle body at Pull-a-Part from a 98 T&C 3.8. Got it all cleaned up and bolted on to only find out the gasket from the parts store dosn't seal! Comparing the two throttle bodies mounts and surface area are identicle except at the IAC passage, where the 3.8 (left) has a larger passage and will leak around the smaller gasket.

I tried several parts outlets and only came up with the same gasket for 3.3 and 3.8 liters, dispite being different. I'll call the dealer in the morning but I want to see if any others had this issue?

Thanks
Matt

pretty sure the 58mm TB gasket is multi purposed for more then one application

dont worry about the AIS passage. as long as there is gasket that completely surrounds the TB then it will seal.

the air cant leak out because it doesnt really have anywhere to go except back into the intake track...

Thanks for the PN. I called the crappy dealer we deal with at work....they said monday....I called the dealer I deal with....they have it on the shelf. I'm picking it up Saturday. Cheaper then the useless felpro one too, only $1.75.

WTF would you use RTV on the TB for? The gasket is cheap, can be used over and over again, and won't get sucked into the intake if any squishes out and breaks off on the inside. Really?

have to look up 2000 or 2001 caravan 3.8 to get the correct gasket at parts stores, Simon gave the part # though

they go for 89 cents at Advance Auto

Took me trial and error to get the right one. I have a list of part numbers that I built up over the years.

The new gasket worked perfect, throttle body is on and working just fine. Didn't notice a huge improvement but it does have more grunt under heavy throttle. I guess I need that additional 0.5 liters to really get this jelly bean moving...hehehe. 3.8 swap.......maybe? Runs too good for me to tear it apart.
