Thanks Simon.

Yep, it was cutting out again at the top of 2-3 shift and near the top of 3rd. I changed to a new MSD map sensor and it is much better now then it was in Mission. I'm using Turbonator version 15 so I'm going to try the latest version this weekend.

What kind of valve springs and cam are running on your car? Since I went to conicals and PT lash adjusters, my engine has never missed a beat to 7200 with stock electronics.
Your car is awesome, glad you brought it all the way out to Mission. :)

The springs are Mopar Performance and the cam is FWD performance F4 cam with their lifters. I have a set of PT lifters that I might try.

The weather this weekend looks good, so more testing.

Nice to see you start a log Steve. It looks like this Friday is going to be a good night so I hope you make it out. I fixed my O2 sensor so I should be able to turn up the wick a bit. With the air we should be getting I think you would have 11s in the bag. :thumb:

I just got back from the track and managed a 12.014 which was my first pass. The air continued to get worse and then on my third pass the engine reved up off the line. The 60 foot was 2.0 so I thought that I spun the tires. I get back to pits and cooler down. I made some changes to the fuel curve. I go to back the car up and no reverse. Oh no. :yuck: Another trans is toast. (fluid smells like toast too) I think the stock frictions can't cut it. I need to find the red frictions so this transmission can last a little while. I guess now I have 6 months to fix it.

Bummer, :(

LMK how I can help with the trans, mine holds no problem with all the little things I do and the mods listed on the site.

It sounds like you either popped the lo/reverse piston or maybe just burn't up the 3rd gear clutch?

I'll post some pics of the carnage once I get the trans out. Might be a while before I get to it. Are you running the red frictions or is there a stronger piston lip seal?

The track here is 2300 feet so my time would correct to an 11.70. The timeslip would have been nice to look at over the winter though.

I had some billet reverse servo's made that use a scarf seal.

I just use the top of the line Raybesto's frictions, the front frictions are a grey/metal looking material and the rear's are a brown colour, they seem to hold up well.

The Lebaron ran it's best time in Vegas. 11.88 @ 115 mph. I didn't have the nerve to really step it up and run the 4 bar map sensor & new Boost Button cal from Rob. There wasn't any time or dry pavement before the event to test. I wanted to make sure that the car was still in one piece to cruise the Las Vegas strip. On the way back from Vegas, I picked up a roll bar and other safety stuff so that I'm 11.49 legal.

Castrol Raceway opens up on April 29th. I hope to test out 35 psi of boost and the new cal.

There is still a miss at about 6300 now. I'm going to try the PT lifters now to see if that solves it.
I'm going to try to make it to Mission July 1-3. (test and tune, street legal and weekend event) I hope there will be more than 1 sport compact on the weekend. I was getting bored racing myself last time.

Thanks, the intake and throttle body are working great. Everyone comments on the intake and want to know about it. I'm curious, how much of gain the car would see with a larger plenum. There is a good inch to firewall but the vacuum ports would have to be moved all to the end of plenum. The other improvement might be velocity stacks/bells to smooth the flow to the runners. Thanks again for the intake.

Running 25 lbs of boost and going to run 35 psi later this year. Yep, that's EGT. Almost a meltdown on that run at 1800! I've got it to 1700 now, by advancing the timing in the cal. The G head wants so much timing.

I thought I would post an update on the car.
I was having a problem with a miss fire above 6000rpm. I thought I had it fixed when I switched out 3 bar map with another one. The miss fire came back and I had tried everything. I even changed out the valve springs and it was still there.
So I decided to drop the rpm by changing the trans gears back to stock (3.05 final ratio). The car ended up liking the change and has run 11.89 @ 118.80. The 60' are suffering with 1.95's.

I ended up gaining 4 mph by upping the timing. This g-head really wants a bunch of timing.

Back to the misfire, I think I found it now. The center coil post on top of the distributor cap was loose. The coil wire was wobbling all over. I was running a cap and wires from Richard Bryant. I ordered a new set from him. He now makes some slick terminals that just snap right in. With the new cap and wires, the car revs right to 7000 now.

About 30 runs on the car this year, the trans has been holding up. (knock on wood). I'm running ATF+4 and haven't been doing a burnout before the run. Not doing a burnout is probably hurting the 60' but the trans needs to stay together.

I hope to get out to the track this Friday night for some cam timing testing.

Sorry to see the carnage. The van must be making some power. I spent the money on an input shaft but never thought to get an output shaft. I may have to get one too.

I was using the 1.22 gear set, so 3.50 final ratio. The datalog shows the g-force climbing off the line then decreasing. It should really be max g's at the launch so I think the orange bottle in the trunk will fix that. :eyebrows:

I didn't want to heat the trans up with a burnout. I figured a cooler trans is a happy trans. Since it is near the end of the year, I can lean on the car a bit harder.

I changed the gearing back to 3.50 final ratio since the misfire is solved.

I started doing a burnout before the run since its the end of year. I finally was able to get the car to hook on the 3rd run. I did a really good burnout and was in the right lane.

The small tuning changes have been increasing the MPH. I have been trying to straighten out the rpm curve by increasing or decreasing timing at different sections in the curve.
The AFR was at 11.0-11.1 but seems to be dropping to 10.7 - 10.8 above 6100 rpm. I started taking some fuel out using the Pumping Efficiency curve but it didn't do much. The last run I took fuel out using the Full throttle curve and it was about a solid 10.8 now. Looks like I can pull some more fuel in that region.
These are the runs that I made.

(corrected altitude was 3900-3500)

I had some sucess at the track this weekend. It was cold out and I was getting over a cold. That wasn't going to stop me from attending the last event at the track.

I'm still having issues with hooking the car up. The first run I tried a 11 psi in the slicks and got wheel hop. I checked the datalog at the end of the run and the AFR was 11.9-12. I'm usually running around 11.3-4 so the air must have really been good. 2200 ft good. It looks like I gained just over 1 mph with that leaner mixture.

I added about 2 psi fuel pressure for the second run. Guess who pulls up next to me. The insanely quick Shadow! Mr Crash Box lol. I knew I had to cut a good light. (0.061 not bad but didnt help since he ran his PB) I ended up spinning with a 1.98 60'. AFR was 11.6-11.7

The third run I added more fuel using the Fuelfullthrottle curve and switched to the left lane. AFR 11.2 Left lane was better for the launch.

Fourth run I took a little fuel out using the same curve. New PB 11.584 @ 119.90 AFR 11.4

The goal for the car was an 11.5 so the goal was finally achieved.

The fifth run I turned back the timing and opened up the NOS bottle. I decided to not purge so it wouldn't hit right away. Car launched as usually off the line and then pulled like never before. Felt good.:)

I looked at the datalog and everything looked good so it was time for a full NOS pass. It started to rain a bit and the track closed the event. I guess there is always next year.

Hood and trunk lid are fiberglass. They aren't painted yet. Waiting for them to de-gas.

A little sip on the bottle was fun!

This is really turning into a banner year for our cars! I think all the hard work and brainstorming is finally starting to pay off and Maybe we will see this trend continue and get stronger yet!!!!!

Nice runs Bro!

Here are 2 more. Won both races by 0.05 secs. Drove around both at the end. You'll have to ignore the blur from a bug hit at 100mph.

You guys have killer cars and reading about them has helped me get the Lebaron to where it is now. :thumb:

Thanks man, April 13-15th will be here before we know it. I haven't decided if I'll take the car there next year or to SDAC 22.

I was having a tough time getting the car to hook my previous time out. I had read that some guys were switching their slicks to the other side of the car. That's what I did and it worked big time.
I was running AR51 plugs which have a cut back grounding electrode but the center elctrode is protruded. These worked but I wanted to try a colder plug. I picked up some AR50 plugs. They look like a much colder plug than the 51's. The plugs looked good after a few of my best passes. I'd like to find a cross reference to a brand of plug that has a recessed center electrode and is just as cold.

Projects for the winter.
1. Freshen engine and trans
2. Make and install rear spring perches and stiff springs.
3. Install roll bar
4. Build an airbox and hood opening
5. Paint fiberglass hood and trunk lid

BR9ES or BR9EIX, very cold plug and recessed electrode. Regular and iridium, I ran the latter but my lastest head is sleeved and I have to run 5/8 hex plugs, so still trying to find a match.
