Hey came across this issue today making a part and need to make 2 square 1/2" x 1/2" holes in some 22gauge sheet metal.

Any ideas??

BTW dont have a press as that was about the only idea I came up with, pressing a sharp square through it(like stamping). Or drilling many tiny holes around the perimeter.

Dont have a butter cutter either(plasma)

Edit found a chisel, sharpened it and got it, thanks

A very sharp chisel(1/2" wide) would work good.

that was my first thought. I have two sets of chisels. One is for getting the job done and the other is for fine woodworking.

What I've done in the past is drill a hole about the size you need, (maybe slightly smaller) and use a file to square out the corners.
