Last night was our first meet at Mission as a new chapter. It was awesome, had a total of 5 cars there, more than I have seen in a long time. One was a LeBaron from Edmonton, 69viper, who was running low 12's, the fastest of the bunch. Usually we come out to cheer on Simon, so it was cool to see such a large showing. Wopr had his IROC RT, Simon, 4cefedomni had a Caravelle, as his Omni wasn't ready yet, 69viper with his LeBaron, and me. I finally got out of the 13's, ran a 12.8@115, so the night was good. :thumb:
These pic's were taken before Don showed up, so sorry, I don't have a pic of your Caravelle. :o

I am glad I made it out last night. Really can't resist that urge to get my hands dirty with all those hoods up.

For those of you that I forgot to tell (sorry, lots was going on), I'm going to be a Daddy!!!

It was nice to see Dick run some new fastest times.

Did anyone get any runs in after I left? I saw all the S/Cs lined up when I was walking away, but you guys hadn't got into the lineup.

Since I'm not too frequent on here anymore, someone will have to call me when everyone's going to be out again.

It was really good to see everyone again. I was worried that when I had to get out of it for a while that things would fall apart here and there wouldn't be a local group around when I wanted to get my car up and running again.

Rained out for the test and tune, but luckily it dried out for the Street Legals, 5 of us there, pretty cool.

4 runs at 12 psi, got to the line, tried to do a burnout, wouldn't spool, WTF? Staged, launched, no boost until like 100 ft out of the hole then off she goes, whopping 15.7@95 mph.

Tweaked the cal some more and got down to 15.0, wow, :banghead: :censored:

Tried my old TIII cal, a bit more boost, 18 psi to make up for no boost at the line, raced Wop'r with his R/T, I got him at the light by .5 sec, which turned out saved my azz, I saw him come up near the end of the track but then my van took off, like a 2 stroke, lol, and got him at the light, 14.7 to his 14.2, :amen:

That was the last run, dew point set in so they told us and off home we went.

Figured out the converter is my problem, can only stall at 2800 rpm, so the advice to run that one screwed me up, :(

Gotta figure out how to get the stall up to 4000, without spending a fortune.

looks like you need to take a considerable amount of time and work on the cal. i bet you can get the spool better with some more work. take it slow and dial each 1000rpm point/psi point and youll be alot better than just popping in different random cals. your setup is different enough from any stock cal that you are going to have to dial in EVERYTHING. :)

Brian

PS, i tried to call you back but some kid answered (your son?) and babbled something into the phone and then i heard silence lol

Its not the cal, I can only stall 2800, NOT near enough to spool that turbo, I tried the 12 sec cal just to test if it was the cal, which it isn't as both cals spooled the same.

Yeah, my son answered, lol, doh!

But I went slow-didn't turn up the boost and say f*ck it, only turned it up to 18, lol, far as I wanted to go, proud of me? :eyebrows:

well youve learned something.... you used to go to 30+ psi rather than just 18 lol. :)

Nice seeing you guys again! I didn't have a chance to chat too much. I was trying to figure out the high rpm misses. Thanks to James for helping me work on a few things. Congrats to Dick on the 12 second run. I raced on Saturday and was the only Sport Compact! Still couldn't figure out cars issue. Changed MSD box, coil, shutter wheel in distributor, another set of plugs, rotor, cal timing, cam timing and bypassed the baro solenoid. Everything but the muffler bearing. :confused2:

I'm still not too impressed with my et, but the mph is pretty good. When you blew my doors off, I thought "that's it, the boost is going up". Your car launches good, I'm gonna have to practice some more. We hope to see you back again, was cool to have such a good turnout.:peace:

im aiming for 12's next time around or at least completely destroy Simon and his pedo van:)
gotta figure out what needs to be done to make it happen though...
anyone here have a big --- cone air filter?
can we run an upon down pipe and still be in the S/C class?

Good luck, remember, I ran mid 12's on shagged everything,

Anyhow, buy a filter, they are cheap and yes, you can run an open DP, alot of turbo cars do.

we didn't change the Map sensor;)

And the winner is "Bakes"! It was the map sensor.
Bought a MSD 3 bar map sensor and now it revs to 6800 no problem. Now I just have to change my timing curves back to where I had them. I should really learn how to save a cal as a different name.
I already miss the great air at Mission!!!

You get a hi stall torque convertor yet?

No, I talked to Turbojerry, he said his stalls to 4000 grand no problem, so I am going to advance the cams and move the powerband down. That should do it. I'll talk to Brian about how the anti-lag works and play with that.

Aries_Turbo
09-04-2010, 03:38 PM
yeah you need all the low end power you can get.

antilag retards timing significantly till you reach your boost goal to get some fuel burning in the exhaust manifold. just make sure that your computer controlled boost values are set at or below your electronic boost controller value. if you never run less than 15psi, set the boost goals there.

Brian

Its actually really good right now, around town, I rarely see 5 psi, its awesome.

As for antilag, ok, so to make it work better, do I raise the curve or lower it?

I usually launch at 15 psi so I'll set it there, thanks for the info.
