I'm considering a 1980 one owner omni. It has the 1.7 motor in it. Would the 5 lug L body components swap over? Were there any ongoing suspension changes over the years?

how come you want to switch to 5 lug. are you planing to put a 2.2 turbo in it which can be done. with alittle work. or i should say a lot. i did my 84 . changed it all over to a lot of daytona parts. the back wheels are easy. its the frount thats a pain. i used daytona struts with omni springs. had to to heat and lower the spings. found out later you can use i think sprint struts. i used the knuckles off a caravan. seemed the tona knukles had to much camber. but im sure there are some guys on here who can get you a parts list for the conversion. if you want to stay 4 lug i have a rare set of wheels that were put on the 80 charger.

I have an 89 that has rusty floor pans. It currently has an sbec van harness, 2.5 turbo, shelby charger five lug conversion, etc.

Build thread is here:

This one is supposed to be clean one owner garage kept with only 37,000 kms on it (23,000 miles). It has a blown headgasket.

I'd be looking at swapping everything over to the 1980, and was just wondering what if any differences I'd find such as motor mount differences, bulkhead connector differences etc
