Has anyone ever pushed a 3.5L 24 valve into one of these cars? The 2.5 T1 is tired and I don't want to sink $$$$ into older tech but still go fast...
Any pointers appreciated.
Thanks

Oh man, that sounds like a creative idea, but it's gotta be more work than it's worth. I think some have fit a 16V Neon head on the older engines. That might help out going faster. Or an entire 2.4 swap.

I think its been done once but its alot of work.

Old tech, sure, but it works. If your not a fan of old tech, swap in a 2.4 SRT engine.

A 3.5 rwd conversion is on my list of things to do someday... Very overbuilt engines from the factory.

You will need a 3.3 / 3.8l A604 trans and engine harness and some 3.2 pass side mounts.
there is some around who just did this swap with a seabring vert.

The chrysler V6's suck because there is no real option for a manual transmission except for the mythical 5 speed used in a late model Sebring of some sort.

The Mitsubishi V6, however, has the fairly common Chrysler A543 that bolts up to it.

An A604 takes a bunch of money and an aftermarket transmission computer to make it handle power.

I have a 24v 3.0 in my sundance. It can be done and its not TOO hard. You could source a 6G74 3.5 which would bolt to the A543 and would also probably work. the 6G75 3.8 MAY fit as well but im not sure.

Essentially you'd have to make at least 1 motor mount and run a standalone with the A543 but it would be wild for a 3.5 or 3.8. I stayed with the 3.0 because it revvs more easily than either the 3.5 or 3.8 (more oversquare). not to mention routing the exhaust and making sure the 3.5 or 3.8 would fit.

Performance wise, im running 14.3 in the 1/4 with a full interior shadow on the 3.0 on slicks so its not too bad of a mod. Plus im working on an M90 supercharger for the 3.0 :D
