Hey this may sound stupid but how does the factory shift knob come off on a 85glht omni i tryed twisting it off and it does'nt budge,does anybody know how?

ok, not totally sure with the omnis, but with the daytonas, caravans....(I assume manual tranny) you have to remove the shift pattern with a small screw driver. Than with some persuasion, you should be able to twist that knob off,....Lefty- loosie, righty tightie! For an automatic, look for a retainer clip in front of the knob.

The one in my 85 SC just threads off, I'm pretty sure they're all like that. Maybe you just need to start working out ;)

MY SC's was supposed to twist off, except the threads were stripped so it actually just lifted off....lol.

The post about lifting the gear cap is correct. There should be a nut that holds it in place.

The nut is for the lock-out ring rod. It doesn't need to be removed. With the cap out, you just need to twist hard.
