It was a good night. I ran a 12.99 at 105.86. Sean (87t2omni) was able to get a 13.8 out of his shadow. He has $1000 into it including the price of the car. I am tired so I will post some more details about tomorrow. There is a good story about an unhappy supercharged 5.0 owner I have to fill everyone in on.

I ran it on a relentless cal that I borrowed from Brian Bucar. The TU cal was having issues the last time I went to the track so I swapped it out. Frank, I dropped the feul pressure a little and it cleared up the popping. It is still on the rich side but I don't want to drop it anymore until I get a scanner on it and do some logging. I know it has a lot more in it and this was only at 18 psi.

Now on to the mustang story:

A guy with a supercharged 1990 mustang gt was in the pits next to me. For some reason I have always liked the 5.0 mustangs. I walked over and started talking with him while he was getting his car ready. He said it runs in the 12s with slicks without the supercharger. So It should do pretty well with it tonight. He said that he just likes to ebarass the imports. I said that I like to do that too except when I do it they can't complain that I had 4 more cylinders than they do. He looks over to my car real quick and just says OK and then goes back to work. I get the impression that he was not very impressed.

On my next run I end up running him. I got the jump on him and I waited for him to fly by. When he did not pass me by half track I looked in my rearview mirror and I did not see him. I assumed he broke at the line. Just before I hit the traps I glance to my left and he was in my blind spot. I ran a 13.1 to his 13.3. When we got back to the pits he said he had traction issues, which he did, and he says to me, "That car is serious!"
Just to add to his bad night my friend sean puts my slicks on his shadow. He bought it for $200 and put another $800 into it. He did a t2 conversion and he is running about 14psi and a 50 shot of nitrous. He runs the mustang and ends up beating him with a 13.8.
The mustang guy was cool and his 60 foot times just kept getting higher. If he had slicks on instead of DRs he would have beaten both of us. He was also running the stock intake because his modifyed one was cracked.

I already have the mount for my nitrous bottle in.:) I will be working on installing the kit over the next few weeks. I figure 25 psi and a 75 shot should get me close.

Pretty cool stuff! Now that you mention dropping the fuel pressure, it makes sense. That cal is setup for a bigger exhaust and such which requires more fuel then your setup.

Good story! Reminds me of the guys pitted next to me in the small block Pontiac Phoenix that "ran 11.50's" except when they lost to my 11.84 ;)

I saw the mustang guy last night and he was doing much better; well into the 12s. He said he was still very impressed with my car and could not believe how fast it was. He was definately a nice guy. Too bad there are not more people like him at the track.

Great run Scott!!! Good to hear your car's working out well for ya. So you still ended up having some cal issues after the Dyno? Did you change anything afterwards?

I talked to a guy at the track yester day at the Pro Am weekend,he has a vega with a 4.3 V-6 in it that run 9s so we were talking a little and in the clas he runs with less weight you can run a 4 or a 6,any way he was telling me hed like to see NHRA run some of the pro imports up agenst the Pro stock cars for fun and get some more people interested in the new forms of racing,He also talked highly of a few guys and gals that run at his local track in the old turbo dodge cars and get no respect for runing them cause there old but in reality the other guys shoudl be realy geting to see how they do it cause for what goes in to them they run great. The guy was one of the fist people that has a tube cassis car thats that fast and he wants to see more turbo dodges and imports out at the track runing.

I pulled the TU cal out and put in a relentless cal. It runs great now. I am waiting to hear from paul on what he wants me to do so he can fix the cal.

I guess what I meant was, wasn't it running just fine after the Dyno, or did you have problems? What kind of problems did you run into?

It is breaking up at higher rpms. I ran a 14.01 with the TU cal. I put the relentless cal in and a week later I ran a 12.99.

Ok, I hear ya. My cal has been flawless since the dyno day and Paul taking some time at the end of the day to revise it one last time.
