Walbro 255 in a GLH Question

I did a search and didn't find anything on this....

I'm in the process of installing my 255 in my GLH and the Fuel Pump Retainer Clip doesn't fit over the new pump.

What have you guys did to resolve this? Trim it?

just put a 255 in my glhs the cars had 4 pumps in it in its lifetime the first time i took the pump out of the car it didnt have the clip on it and it had been there since 1988 i didnt put one back on my pump and i havnt had a problem
