I'm in the process of planning a 2.4 16v swap and was wondering if it would be better to use the nv350 out of the neon? I'm planning on getting stronger axles so that's not an issue. The nv350 is a hydrolic clutch correct? Can it be converted to cable?

My biggest question is strenght and ratios.

I would say the T350 is pretty strong but all teh cars i know running high HP through it are light 1G neons... so not sure how heavy of a car you plan to put it in? Yes the 350 and the 850 (SRT4) are both hydraulic. Not sure how easy they would be to switch to cable? If you want cable you can also modify mounts to fit an A568 like I have in the Z.

1st Gen Neons are cable, and from what I was told a few years ago regarding my customers SRT4 engine swap, they are ok for a mild engine but won't take a hard beating.

Did a little more research...

1st gens are cable clutch and the late (post Feb) 2000 cars had the strongest t350's while still having a cable clutch. But it's still not up to par with the 568/523 and I've seen some threads on Neon guys wanting to swap 568's for the 350/850's.

My power goals are in the neighborhood of 350whp. I guess I'll just use the 523 I got with the car. The t350 would be nice because they're more common in the yards.

Edit: Car is a Shadow ES.
