Would mixing high octane race fuel with 94 pump gas be an economical way of getting 100+ octane fuel? I've been thinking of this and looking on the web an I'm getting conflicting threads. What do you guys think? A five gallon jug is 90$.
I will be getting a cal. eventually, but for now my S60 computer will have to do even if it's driving me crazy.

Thanks for your input.
Not sure if I posted it in the good forum? Let me know

Dont see why not. Thats how you get midgrade fuel at the pump. Not sure what the end result would be but it would have to be an improvement.

I just went to the speedshop and picked-up a jug. It's now 100$ for 104.
I think I will blend it with 2 gallons of 94 and should put me in the 100 ball parc. If the calculations are as simple as that.

The math seems right until you read this thread. http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48978

That's one I asked what octane was all about, and pretty much, the conclusion is it's a crapshoot what you get out of the pumps. I found it best to tune and race on pure race gas. It has a known octane rating and the results are predictable and repeatable.

You can get an socketed SMEC and have rob burn you a cal for less than $90.

what is the actual fuel you are using that costs 100 for 5 gal? is it unleaded?

I'm waiting on FWDP they should be sending me a cal soon. I had a trimcal that I purchased off a local TD forum and it was defective. Sent it to them for they can check it out and they are sending me another ecu to hold me up.

As for the 100$ for a Jug of 104 unleaded is just plain insane. The gas prices here in Montreal are $1.24 a liter for super unleaded (94 octane) which comes out to $5 bucks a gallon.
Just curious, how much is 104 unleaded in the states?

BTW can Rob make dual boost cal?

sorry thats 110 sunoco. As for the unleaded, its about a buck more but you have to buy it by the barrel.

i think im only payin 68 dollars for the vp c16 stuff, its been about 6 months since the last time i bought it, but im sure its around the same price stil. the unleaded stuff (ms-104?) was like 74 bucks, but i just run the leaded when i need a boost...

and e85 around here is only 215, but theres one thats 15 min away and one thats 45 min away from me but nothing else after that for over 250 miles...

That's seems more affortable than $20 a gallon for 104.
Doesn't the leaded stuff kill your O2 sensor and wideband?
I will be going to Burke montain(kindom trails) mountain biking in a couple of weeks.
I will be taking interstate 91. Is there a place I can pick some up that you might know of?
Do all Sonocos have some?. Sonoco left us many years ago!!

the leaded stuff will kill o2 sensors eventually, but you can get away with running it for awhile as a blend, or on a race day, my friend lost his sensor sig after running c16 in it for 2 weeks straight...
