So ive swapped in a complete 1988 Daytona Shelby Z engine into my 1986 Omni GLH. Im still using the original 1986 Omni engine wiring harness but the starter and wiring on the 1988 engine is different from the Omni plugs and everything. I still have the original T1 engine block with the original '86 wiring sitting and what we're wondering is can we just swap over the original T1 wiring to the 88 engine? Is the 86 and 88 distributor the same? Both plugs match up together on the 86 and 88.

you can use the stock electronics as long as its a turbo harness. 84-85 distributors were different, since you have a 86 you should be plug and play.

Ok ok, so just swap the starter wires and other assorted wires attached to the T1 engine to the T2 engine. Theres one more thing, the daytona engine has a brand new, not refurbished, but a new new new altenator on it with what looks like a box/bar that connects to the altenator on the back as sources or grounds or whatever. Should I swap that out or just use it. It seems to be fine and worked perfect when in the daytona

Just do whatever works for the alternator harness.
