To install the drain plug with the trans out of the car, remove the differential cover, bearing retainers, and differential. Drill a hole in the circle in the casting at the bottom of the trans case, right below where the differential sits. Use a 1/8" NPT plug to plug the hole. You may need to do slight clearancing around the inside of the hole to get a socket on the plug.

I did mine in the car w/ no issues. Just make sure you use teflon tape or thread sealant of some sort :)

I used one of the plugs that come in the O2 sensor hole on exhaust pipes. Just tap it for the O2 sensor thread. It has the flat under the head and will tighten against the case like a oil drain plug.:thumb:

Yeah I used 3/8 NPT thread w/ a pipe plug, and didn't put tape or sealer on it since one of my buddies told me it wasn't necessary w/ pipe thread. Wrong! :(
