Found this on a website selling model A parts...

http://cididit.com/exhaust_bypass_valve.htm

Neat idea! Something similar could be cobbled together with a TB and a WG can, maybe one for a mitsu because the open at like 4psi.

Just thought Id share!

Did something similar for a buddies car. Used 2 huge ebay wastegates for cutouts.

Maybe I am missing the point, but where do you vent the exhaust?

Just vent it out right away. works just like a cutout but you have mufflers normal driving and then cutouts when your in boost.

i prefer the electric cutouts

to me, the biggest reason for an open exhaust is to shorten spool up time. a boost actuated one would only help once your in boost

Its straight thru, unless you mount it on a y pipe.

Yeah, i think its implied that you have to Y it into the exhaust pipe.

I think with a vac solonid in line you could set it up to "hold" it open with a check valve as soon as it hits boost the first time. A little brake boost action and your cutout would stay open...

That would get annoying every time you're in boost to have the cutout open, unless you're road racing or something... Like a noisy BOV. Sounds cool, unless you get stuck in traffic. PSSHHHH...PSSHHHHHH...pSSHHH..PSSHHHHHHHH

electric is so much more practical IMO

Personally I liked driving with an open swingvalve. I only drove it like that for a few days, but it still sounded good.

i went 2 weeks with open sv, i love the turbo noise, but it did was a little loud coming home lat at night. the thing about the garret wastegate accuated cutout is it should only open up around 7 psi, not all the time, so under 7 psi it will be normal exhaust flow, plenty enough psi to get you around town. i wish it was a 4" instead of 3" for my next exhaust system:eyebrows:

Love my McCord Power Plate. I just hit a button to open the cut-out, and hit it again to close it. I keep it closed for daily driving, and run it wide open at the track. :thumb:

Ive seen that thread. He used a air ram, and said a WG can wouldnt work, thats why I posted this.

Im going to build one, but not with a TB. Im going to use a CTD EGR valve. They are about 3 1/4"!

Mine from the above thread is still working flawlessly. And is now adjustable with a boost controller. ;)

And for sure the WG can won't work. At least not with the TB I used. (Ford Taurus V6 = 2.5" I.D.) :thumb:
