Does anybody know what these srt's use for colder range spark plugs?

After such success with Reeves' suggestion of champion non-projected copper plugs in my shadow, I thought I'd see if there was a colder and hopefully non-projected plug for the DOHC neon turbo project.

Let me know what you got. Thanks.

I run NGK V-Power Racing... R5671A-9 (Stock number 5238) ... IIR OhioRob recomended them a while back and I've run them since

yes and yes

EDIT: I'd go one colder if yer gonna squirt it ;)

EDIT x 2: But wait, Rob runs some juice.. Hmm.. maybe they are OK for that? Maybe he'll chime in...

Awesome and awesome! It's got more compression that we wanted for a boosted application and pump gas, so we're trying to control detonation with colder plugs, methanol and probably later, lowering the compression with separated and stacked MLS head gaskets.

less timing too...

BTW those plugs will not work in the 03+ SRT motors they use a different plug style(for the OP).

But yes those are "THE" plugs to use unless you want the more expensive Iridium 9EIX plugs and you have a NA 2.4 converted to turbo from 95-99 or maybe to 02??(I think)

I run the R5671A-10's in my Horizon with the 8v. My brother runs them in his 2.4 swap (early) neon as well.

But as posted above, the 01-up heads use a tapered seat, longer reach plug than the older 2.4's. I still have not found a non-projected tip copper plug for my SRT-4.

I have been using NGK 4306's, which is supposedly what Mopar recommends for the staged upgraded cars. I've had good luck with them.

Both Advance Auto parts stores stock them in my city, if not they're overnight. Just tell them to order NGK 5238 plugs, they are less than $3 a plug

+1 to Advance, usually on the shelf :thumb:

Good info on the SRT heads being different!

Picked up a set. Will have to install them tomorrow.

Also picked up a set and installed. They missfire like crazy! Same gap .028 same sealing design (washer) as stock plugs and it runs like poop!! Put the stockers back in and all is fine. Do you need to run a higher or lower plug gap? Maybe I have a defective one or two?

Strange they run fine for me with even a little more gap but what kind of ignition do you have?

Maybe you need the 8's, whats your CR? If you just want something to get it going with low boost like up to 15lbs the 7's should be fine and they should stock the normal "V power" plug

Are colder plugs really good for everyday driving and how do they affect gas mileage?

Colder spark plugs will both hurt gas mileage and emmisions.

...but if you crank the boost and need them, thats better than cracked pistons?

NGK LZTR6AIX-13 for use with a SRT4 head. 1 step colder than stock. I use the NGK BPR6EIX in my 2.2/2.5 turbo engines. Again, 1 step colder than stock.
