Is there an affordable choice for turbo manifolds for the earlier 2.4 motors? There seem to be a lot of tube style headers for the SRT motors but I dont see many for the earlier 2.0/2.4 heads. Just doing a quick search on ebay I only came up with this log style turbo manifold:

Since the mexican manifolds are pretty hard to come by, are there any other options besides something custom?

You can use any of the upgrade manifolds designed for the SRT-4. The flanges are not identical, but they do work.

Forward Motion has a nice cast manifold with a flange for an external wastegate.

The problem I see with using these 420A headers and manifolds are that most of them are designed for DSM's which place the turbo on the front on the engine. The manifold will physically bolt to the rear of a Neon head, but the turbo placement and plumbing may be an issue.

I am running this manifold on my CSX. It places the turbo a little to close to the firewall though....but is a GT30R so its not a small turbo. I had to "massage" the firewall a bit to work. In hindsight, I would have rather used the cast manifold I think and perhaps sacrificed a little flow.

Good info, thanks guys.

The ATP manifold with HY35 hit the firewall on my GLHS. It would probably have cleared on a non lbody and it was a very nice manifold. AGP also makes a nice cast exhaust manifold for the SRT4.

The SRT4 manifolds are regularly about $200 or slightly less on ebay. I ended up having one made from weld els because it was an lbody and I wanted to place the turbo in a specific spot but otherwise i would have just bought a cast one.

The ATP Manifold looks like it tilts the turbo back towards the firewall, with a flange angle similar to the 2.2/2.5 8v turbo manifolds. The AGP and Treadstone manifolds tilts the turbo a little farther up, so it looks like you would have more firewall clearance for a big turbocharger.

If I could weld I would probably look into just making myself a log style header. For $200, a cast manifold will probably work just fine for me. Anyone tried the OBX header? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-TURBO-MANIFOLD-HEADER-DODGE-NEON-SRT4-SRT-4-2-4L-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5ada1aa981QQitemZ39020 6237057QQptZRaceQ5fCarQ5fParts It certainly looks cool, but I worry the wastegate would hit the firewall with the angle it is at, especially in an L-body.

I think JT (BadAssPerformance) is using the OBX header on his Daytona. While the Gbody has more room than an L, he may be able to give you some insight as to how much room is down there.

Correctamundo... OBX shorty 2.4L header. I did have to rotate the motor forward to keep the T04B comp cover off the firewall tho.

Oh boy, if fitment is close in a G-body, I wonder how bad an L-body will be. Do you have any pictures that show clearances?

Thanks for the pictures. As sexy as the header looks, I may just stick with the cast manifold for ease.

Yeah, I cant say this header is any better as it is far from equal length too... seems to work OK fo rnow tho, LOL

Tons of room JT, you could camp out there,

i'm using the same header JT uses, i can just put my thumb between the firewall and the gt30 (without the heat shield!).

You guys are lucky, your cams don't overhang the back of the head causing header fitment to be a pain, I have a few ideas before I give up for a winter project. :o

Well I picked up one of those manifolds. I really like where it sits the turbo on the engine, but there is a clearance problem with the P/S pump. The PT cruiser bracket moves the pump to the front but then the Alt moves to the back and will probably be in the way...

I'm going to put the engine in the car and see how it clears. I'm also going to spend a little time seeing if the pump can be moved. What's nice is that it's a remote reservoir so it should be easier to find a home for...

I'm keeping A/C and I need an Alt so... Is there a manual rack available for the P body?

It am almost certain it is possible to run the early NEON manual rack on the Pbody.

I haven't seen it but I know people have done the opposite where they put a Pbody rack on a Neon.

I think it is also possible to use an old lbody rack but it is a pain.

There are three main issues with the manual rack as I see it:

They are rare/expensive
They use a different steering column coupler than the power rack.
They have a really high ratio like 22:1 so they turn slowly.

There is a KC article with some of this info here: http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/vbarticles.php?do=article&articleid=175

My shadow, CSX, and rampage all had power racks with looped lines. Worked great.

My thoughts are first to see about relocating the pump. I kept the bracket off the 2.5 which is steel so I'm going to start there. If that doesn't work I may go electric with a later MR2 (00-05) setup. If neither option works then I'll go manual.

Before I worry about anything though I'm going to put the motor in the car with the turbo on and make sure I'm happy with it. Outside the car I like the low placement but I may hate it in the car... No sense getting all bothered about the PS pump if I'm going to change the manifold...

Not really a good option. I finally got the motor in and the DP is going to run into the frame rail if you use more then a 5" radius 3" pipe... Even then it's going to be real close. Then there's the issue of the P/S pump...

Maybe if you flipped the turbo around and ran the exhaust to the center. But then you have the air inlet and outlet on the passenger side...

Back to the drawing board.
