Rob Pachner finally got his car out last night after waiting forever for a 300m input shaft.

Got to the track and it was lookin' good.

http://f5.putfile.com/6/16012283874.jpg

There were about 300 other cars there, including some 6 second NSCA super stock cars. So racing was limited.

First pass went well with a 10.73 at 133mph and a 1.79 60'. 30psi of boost, but he ended up blowing the PCV line off valve cover, coating the back-half of the motor in oil. Oh well, helped him clean it up a little, and back to staging.

You can see the oil on the top hard pipe.

http://f5.putfile.com/6/16012273821.jpg

Second pass went better, after a 2 hour cool down. This time he mustered a 10.55 at 134mph with a 1.74 60'. He turned the fuel down to 29psi and advanced the timing a little.

...aaaaand of course we got bored on the way home. Got the Chuck to beat on our 16 second Neon SXT. :thumb: bwahahaha I have a video of it, but my computer is a POS today.

So the videos will come later today once StreetFire decides to cooperate.

so how bout that vid :)

Well Streetfire.net sucks huge nuts, so the only video I got was of the Neon on the way home.

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/5d59a312-cb65-418b-9fcc-ea1015b67b24.htm

It killed my quality so you can't hardly see the tach at all. I hate Streetfire! Is there anywhere else I can upload 75mb videos?

thanks guys

besides the input the only other changes i made where the stall on the tc. 2400 to3300 and the finall gear ratio 3.17 to 2.7 something. the car did not like the taller gears so i put the 3.17 back in. going back to the track today to see if my mph go's up. after 3 years of abusing this motor it may need freshin up.

thanks Bryan

Man, I can never see enough pictures of that car:clap2: A few more details to notice every time a new pic is shown-then again maybe I'm the last to notice among the other thousands of mods that the fuel cap has been filled in:o Clean look, BTW where is the fuel cell Rob?

Were these passes on the bottle, or off?

Some people may not know it, but was it 2 years ago, this car ran 10.0 at 140?

While I can't answer YOUR question, I can say that a large factor in the slower times is those 2.7 gears. That's a bit too low for his car. I supsect it'll go a few tenths lower with the 3.17's back in. :)

Oh and, best SC ever.

Yah he was on the bottle the entire time.

You really gotta see these videos to see how amazing this car looks while lighting them up, or flying 135mph down the track.

PM sent Frank.

...and yours is #2!

I don't know about that. I saw at least 3 at SDAC-15 nicer than mine.

Anyway, After seeing Rob's car in person, I want a 2.4 powered Shelby Charger even more. If I didn't have so much $ tied up in this 2.2 8 valver, I would abandon it.

The mic on your camcorder is jacked up, but here is what I put together...

Send me your caravan video and I can get it done the same way and be managable in size. Streetfire can be a pain.

We just bought that camera for still pics but an added bonus was that it took videos. We only purchased it like 2 hours before we went to the track. Naturally Bryan NEVER read the manual. He just ran with it so to say. My wide found out later that he had one of the mics turned off still.

BTW Frank, I can not see the videos at all.....?????

thanks for all the compliments

after 9 years on the road the car has it's battle scars.

well the gear change made it slower but the mph did not change
I think the tc is slippin more then i like. I'll be going back to the 2.7? gear and experiment.

I will not be going for the 9's this year the car loves being in the 10's and for the most part is reliable. besides I'm broke.

I'll just keep doing what i love to do. whip on the v8 guys with there big --- slicks and wheelie bars :eyebrows:

Rob

After reading that statement above, I have to say this:

If you get a 9 second pass this year and can prove it I will give you a $100.00 !
You have already gone 10.066, come on Rob all I want is one 9 sec pass.

[anyone else want to toss in some cash to motivate Rob] ?????

Rob,

I am glad to see it's back together! Are you just swapping out the Transfer gears or ring and pinion? I like the 1/8 mile times. You must have fun at the hillbilly tracks...:D

Max Headroom, that takes me way back.

Hey Dave is that neon back on the road?

I just change the transfer gears.

took a compression test. 1,2,4 about160 #3 130. oh crap.

Rob,

Max is the bomb! I like that most of the shows came true!:thumb:

As for the Neon, it is will be back on the road as soon as install the built ATX.

I do have a question for you about the input shaft. Should I shoot you a PM or is it open for discussion?

Sorry to hear about the compression! Have you ran some cleaner/water thru the cylinder to see if it is a carboned up ring? Or perhaps a leakdown test? Just throwing ideas out there...

Perhaps, but I like it. All it needs a a Masi motor or something crazy like that to be perfect.

go ahead and ask.
I'll be doing a leak down test but i think the rings have lost some of there tension on # 3.

That probably will never happen. However, I'm contemplating building a 2.4 turbo for something that isn't wrong wheel drive.

Rob,

OK here it goes!

The shaft I assume is custom made?
Is Your shaft hollow so that you can run a lock up converter? (sounds perverted....):eyebrows:
Why did you replace your shaft? It failed or is it preventative?
And finally, who made your new converter?

You need to un"wrong wheel drive" your SC... then you'd have something.

Someone really needs to make a RWD conversion K-frame for purchase. It'd make the whole process a lot easier. Installing leafs and cutting a trans tunnel isn't really that hard and with the right "k-frame" you could even use the stock suspension.

Congrats on getting your car out Rob.
I made it out last weekend too but only managed a 11.09 @125 in the 94 degree heat ... funny your talking about rings I replaced mine over the winter and the oil is now staying in the motor. much nicer that way!
I'm sure you'll get it worked out too much fun racing after a long lay off.

I had the opportunity to meet rob and his beautiful car today at the super nats. Too bad I did not get to see it run, maybe next time. Like ken said the car IS a work of art.
