My dad called me today beside himself with excitement because he just got out of a race with a new G8. his roadrunner is a 71 with a worked 383 and 4 speed bored 0.060" over, ported and polished heads, holley street avenger carb, tti race headers. 3.91 gears, fully electronic mopar ignition, and 10.somthing :1 compression ratio. according to my dad and my brother (eye witness) this dude in the G8 thought he was king sh1t on turd mountain and was revving his engine at my dad etc etc. so they took off from a roll and my dad got him by 4 or so car links. they run again same thing happens. so they get to the next light and my dad rolls his window down and says to the other guy "pretty amazing for 40 year old technology eh?" HAHA G8 guy found his way behind my dad when the light turned green, at least he took his beating like a man.

Never race an old-school muscle car.

Why not? I do it all the time.

Because you never know what they're running. Sure, some of them are resto-nuts that keep everything 100% stock, but my experience has been that most of them hop up their engines to ridiculous levels.

See the thing is... I am not afraid of getting beat. Ya win some, ya lose some. What have you really acomplished if you pick and choose only the opponents you know you can beat?

This may sound odd but I guess I avoid provoking races with muscle cars out of respect. Typically older guys drive the muscle cars around and whats the fun in romping a sixty year old dude that just got ice cream with his wife. At least where I live, the only guys that actually want to run are the guys that don't have much to run with i.e. anything that says 4.6 or vtec on the fender.... I guess I just don't want to be stereotyped as some snot nosed punk with a loud car trying to show everyone how fast it is. That being said if someone wants to go I don't care what you've got I'll try to keep up.
