I figured I would start my own thread about the car as its got new ownership and I am going in a new direction with the car. This car was formerly Pauls and before that formerly Mikes.
Story Begins in December when I got the car. Its been a rollercoaster ride since then forsure.
But I figured I would share some work. Next up is the headliner and a windshield. Then I gotta save my pennies for a full front end rebuild. But all will come in time. Enjoy the pics!

Nice pics! great looking car.... looks familiar! :D. I recommend doing the windshield replacement yourself or at least taking the trim off and then letting a shop cut it out and replace it! If you take it too a windshield shop i can almost guarantee they'll break the moldings and tear your seals.. at least if you do that part yourself you'll take your time and if you need any pointers on this i can help you out. I did the windshield replacement myself and it cost $150 for PPG glass and another $50 in eurothane/primer. as for the headliner it will cost you about $30 in materials and $15 in glue and a lot of cursing getting it to form around the T-tops!

That rear hub must have made a lot of noise!

Congrats on your graduation! That's a great picture of the Daytona in the shade, the headlight covers really cleaned up well. What kind of intercooler did you install?

Hopefully you've been getting the bugs worked out...did the shipping company deliver the A555 safely?

Ya not looking forward to the headliner or the windshield. I figure if I fix one thing a week I'll have the car pretty good in sometime.
The 555 came great. Cleaned it up and it shifts great.
The hub was dragging like a locked up ebrake so it was a suprise when I got the wheel off lol.
I have done lots of little upgrades to the car.
3 inch dp
muffler delete
cd/tape player
faze boostgauge
hks blow off valve
turbo xs fmic
so far the car is running awesome!

Ha! Whenever I tell my GF about the upgrades to the Shelby Z, she just rolls her eyes and tells me how unimpressed she is!!!

Yours is looking good!

LOL she loves the shelby. Lack of a/c is the only complaint. But normally she is the one to want to jump in it and go places.
Pretty goood gig if you ask me LOL. The car does look pretty good. I would say a 10 footer or so.
But paint is going ontop, needs a windshield, gfx paint is flaking, needs a little body work in the drivers qtr. where it has been popped. Not a big deal but I wanna take this cars to cruises and shows as how many of these cars do you see on the show curcuit normally you know?

Bought some SRT rims for it this week. Hopefully in a couple weeks time I will mount them up. got a REALLY good deal on them. Tomorrow the car is going to the yard for a thermostat, rightside axle (boot came off), maybe some different side skirts that arent flaking and hopefully I can solve my heating issue.
The car (since it has gotten warm) wants to run warm on the highway. When I get off the highway intown it cools right back down. So I am gonna change the thermostat. If that doesnt solve the problem I will try a different radiator I have laying around. Then the water pump. Then if that doesnt solve the problem I will run a v6 radiator and find myself a LARGE FMIC that is a crossflow set up.
I ran the car today with the rad cap open and no combustion bubbles came through, no smoke, no water in the oil and it doesnt overheat sitting in the drive so I am pretty sure its a coolant system issue and not a headgasket.
http://i45.tinypic.com/24cac0o.jpg
If anybody knows where I can get some center caps for these wheels that would be great. I only am recieving 2 centers. The rims have a *little* curb rash on them but I am sure they would sand out fine. I am gonna eventually bead blast the rims anyways and color them (not sure what I wanna do yet). I saw a set powdercoated argent and man did they look good!
Also on Saturday I got my buddy to quote me a paint job so in a month be looking forward to paint photo's. Also I am in the look out for a set of front struts (upgrade would be nice) and a set of eibach springs. The car is getting all new polybushings front end as soon as I can afford it.

Well today was a busy day on the car. The mechanic out at the yard is on Vacation this week so I thought I would treck out to the yard and get some work done on the car.
It needed an oil change, the boot on the right axle was off, I switched to my other set of pumpers with tires that have some good tread (the ones that were on the car were getting a little bit low), fixed a belt tension issue on my water pump, and changed thermostats and the thermostat housing.
The heating issue was still present after changing the thermostat so I came home and switched out radiators and it seems to have gone away (atleast I hope).
Here are some pics from todays escapades.

I took the car to a shop to get the tires balanced and well........ NEVER AGAIN!
They gave some kid the keys and he comes back in after 10 minutes of attempting to reverse the car and admits he can't drive stick well at all. So I end up pulling the car in.... *SIGH*.
Then the kid counterbalanced all the 4 tires on the car and now the shaking is WORSE!
Luckily in about 2 weeks it will have new shoes but still hacks me off that I pay 40 bucks to get my car killed multiple times and to come out worse then it came in.
BUT I Digress......
Like a good boy I put the exhaust back up with the cat still attached. NOW the cat is rattling so OFF WITH THE CAT tmrw WOOHOO!
Straight pipe maybe loud but only loud for those cars outside =P
So that will be the fun tmrw. I may throw a FWD stage 3 in the car soon as I feel I could gain some power in the top from a little more aggressive timing curve and spark.

WHEELS ARE ON WOOHOO. Man do they look good on the car. I met a buddy in Columbia who picked the wheels up for me in St. Louis so I was really excited to get them on and see how they looked. So I cruised around with some friends all night and forgot to take pics till I was walkin in the door.
Today I also fixed a couple issues that have been plaguing the car lately. The car seemed to run real bad once you got into the upper end so I have been babying the car around. Turns out there was a crack in the fuel rail arm and it was seeping gas out. So I changed rails and switched over the injectors and everything and the 4th injector started spraying fuel out like crazy so I robbed an o-ring off of my other set and it seems to be running a lot better.
Also the cat is bad so it will smoke sometimes sitting at stoplights for a long period of time.
I also fixed an exhaust rattle in the back where my 3'' was hitting the axle in the back.
All in all the car is still running greatQ and I am slowly getting all the bugs worked out of it.
Next I think is the headliner and the windshield. Still saving money for a front end rebuild and a 1 inch drop.

The 1" drop will really look nice with those rims... those rims would also look good charcoal, the same colour as the ground effects.

I think so too. A nice 1'' drop would be perfect for the car. I need to save up for a whole front suspension overhaul I just havent had the money.
The wheels do look great and thats why I bought them. They really make the car look good.

Got the stage 3 in and minus some out of boost stuttering and idling up and down on start ups it runs really well and pulls AWESOME.
However I did take it to the yard today and it starting creeping over the halfway mark on my temp gauge. Stopped at an exit and let it cool down at a gas station and checked everything out to make sure it wasnt something like a fan going bad, fan relay, or headgasket issue and continued on my way and it did it again. So I had it towed back to the yard and will begin diagnostics when I am a little happier at it.
On a brighter note I am gonna start redoing the headliner and have all the stuff to do it just gotta get my car back. It now has a garage spot so that is also nice!
Last night I did pull my buddies jdm sr20 swapped ser with some nice mods and quite a sick car so that was cool.
Before the stage 3 the HEP was going south and it would cut out occasionally in boost. So I checked all the vac lines and finally got a code for the HEP when the check engine light came on after a series of stutters. So I fixed that and the car is running very well besides the overheating.
More updates tmrw.

Well the car has been running great. But 2 nights ago I was driving over to my buddies house and a large truck dropped a cinder block while driving infront of me, smacking my tranny, cracking the case.... DAMNIT!
Ofcourse the guy just keeps driving and I didn't think to get license plate number in trying to swerve the block and the distress in it hitting underneath my car. The car was leaking oil and I almost thought it hit my motor. So I am thankful it didn't hit my motor. But it left a HUGE crack in my tranny and all the fluid leaked out. It also trashed my front spoiler....... Pics to follow later.

I have sourced a small spline a568 for the car that I am gonna install. Anybody wanna sell me a shifter and cables?????
Car has been sitting in the garage while I get the other cars worked on. Its time is coming hopefully with in the next week. I am also toying with the idea of a 3 inch DP to match the rest of the exhaust. I think I should =)
More pics and progress to come soon!

Score 1 for td friends. My buddy was going through his basement and found a set of Shelby mats from a CSX. They aren't in GREAT condition but they are real shelby mats. Should go well in the Daytona =) Pic of the Daytona in the garage next to the Roadrunner till the superbird comes back home then I gotta clean out the third garage and squeeze my shelby in.

Your over heating on the highway issue sounds like textbook missing airdam.

You know, the piece of plastic under the radiator. So many people throw new everything at over heating issues, when it's usually just an airflow issue. Remember TransAm GTAs? The ones without any real vents in the front. How many times did you see one rip the airdam off at McDonalds, only to be parked on the side of the road 20 minutes later overheated?

KISS is usually the way to go.

Thanks man. Ya jackson told me the same thing. I got the car with out the air damn. Luckily for me the thermostat is 5 bucks and I had everything else sitting around.
Unfortunately I need to get a trans in the car before I start looking for a rear air damn. Anybody got one for an 89-91 Daytona?

Well I got the car in today, yanked the trans, took a break to go get my shifter and cables, then installed the new shifter and cables and had the other trans sitting in the engine bay. I took the boot from the other shifter and installed it on the console. I hate the look of the old style boot with the shifter handle.
I blew the HELL out of my right side axle. I musta done that in the last couple days.

As long as they are <18'' long I can fit them in the oven ;)
Ive done engine blocks in there (my rack was groaning and creeking when it got hot, but it didnt bend). I have another oven to cook out all of the oil as well.
It cleaned up my 2.4l block really well. Cooked the dried up rusty crud from the water jacket so I could just blow it out with compressed air.

Naw its getting a good fair share of love. The axle died because when I got the car that side axle had a ziptie holding he boot on and when I got another one at orielly's they sent me a bum axle.
I am trying my best to get all the resto piece together just need it to move to the storage facility and therefore needs a trans
The landscape truck killing the trans really erked me... I plan on fixing the floors on this car and then it goes to Missouri for body work and paint.
I would also be interested in good powdercoating. That would really sounds good and I bet would set off the engine bay. great.

Well I got the axle in it last night that I order from Orielly's and drove the car for the first time in a month. Man if feels good.
The shifter feels really large... I need to go with a B&M neon shifter or something along those lines because this shifter is way too tall, the throw way too long and finding gears isn't very fun. I checked all the lines, clips, and connections and everything is good so I am gonna go on the hunt for another shifter forsure.

It is running great still. However it decided to try to overheat on me last night. Get into it and the radiator blew a hole in the core and was leaking antifreeze. I limped it home and changed the radiator today. Seems to be doing better but it's still doing its *lets get warm thing*. But it is 100 degrees out... So maybe its time for a new water pump and a v6 rad upgrade.
