a555 how to tell if its good or not

i have 2 used a555 , both have some loose on the imput shaft ,side to side maybe 2mm and if you pull the shaft it move like 1mm , both are like that and the last one i bought the guy talked about whinning noise in 5fth , both has the small shaft , im wondering replacing my a520 in my charger with one a555

Looseness is cause by the end bearing plate wear. I'd replace that with Omni Potent's moly plate.

The only proper way is to take it apart and inspect.

If you know what your listening for, sometimes you can hear the input shaft bearing or int/main shaft bearings making noise when you manually turn the shafts.
