Some of you met the Pit Bull at SDAC 19 down at Edgewater. I was dialed 13.5s about all evening, but with good traction it would run 13.00 back then.

I launch at 3000 preferably on Hoosier DOT 225x50x15 drag radials and 93 octane pump gas. At SDAC it had a stage 2 (no toys) set up with BFMIC, Mopar exhaust and Mopar CAI. It also had a Forward Motion E1 turbo with the boost lowered to about 18. When there is abundant traction I'd hit right at 20. The mpg with that set up was incredible and the one time I posted it on another forum I was ripped and tagged as a liar....but my hypermiling and engine off coasting saw 40 mpg on two trips of around 200 miles at 55 mph.

ANYHOW, the current set up has a stage 3 Forward Motion turbo instead of the Enforcer 1 and the boost was at 14-15 when it started runing 12.8s...I was having a sizable boost leak at the stock TB too. My new mpg while hypermiling and at 55 mph are in the 34 range. On Wed my boost leak was fixed by installing a 62mm Modern Performance TB and I am now hitting 16 psi of boost with no problems while 17 has spark knock showing up.

Now it has had some 550 hp rated axles installed (broke a stock one on each side in the last 4 outings last year) and will finally get a fuel controller added. Chris Kreig says we should see 25-27 psi now. What do you think it will run with 23-24 psi that I estimate out of it?

I already ran the numbers and figured that if the 12.8 drivetrain was put into a 100o lb lighter car...like Matchbox...it should run 11.5s!!!

Might I suggest instead of getting a fuel controller you look into a
Diablosport tuner.
Much better than a controller.

it's doing things like shutting the engine off whenever possible and drafting semi's so your MPG's go up. Some of it is very dangerous.

It's only dangerous if you do it wrong. I always leave enough room between me and the truck/semi that I am following so that a semi passing me can get between us. I see people doing 80 that stick to the rear of semis!!! As far as the engine off coasting, I have manual steering and my power brakes never loose pressure during the times that I coast. I also will not drive way under the speed limit like some do...I try to drive 55 when I am doing it and if their is a lot of traffic and I am on the interstate with no truck to follow I'll speed up to what the traffic flow is to not cause headaches for other drivers. The main car I use for this is a 1996 Geo Mrtro 3 banger, 5 speed, 55 hp and BONE stock. I tried a CAI and it used more fuel...the same was true for a K & N filter and no filter. The car was rated at 48 mpg and I averaged 46 with it driving the 245 miles home on the day I bought it. A tune up and removal of 100 lbs got several tank full runs of 57 mpg. I took another 32 lbs out of it BUT went to 195/50/15s on nice looking rims...the mpg stayed the same due to less rolling resistance of the new set up. In March I sold that set of rims/tires and put on some 11lb 13"rims instead of the 16 lb 15s and 155/80/13 tires that were 13 lbs replaced the 18 lb 195/50/15s for a loss of 40 lbs of rotating wt!!! My last 4 tank fulls show a great improvement to 62 and 63 mpg!!! I also cleaned up the front end on it with a grill block and headlight covers. Check out the pics...the 15s were on it then:

Gas mileage out right aside. How can you stand driving a Geo? Are you driving 150 miles one way to work on a $10 an hour budget? I don't care if I save $20 driving somewhere, there is no way on earth that I am going to drive a TD as fast as I have to drive my 1970 D500 with 6.86 gears 200+ miles  I won't even get into how fun it must be to have semi's in 75 and 80 MPH zones like we have on the west coast coming up on your bumper in the Geo going 55 MPH. LMAO you drive on the shoulder with your hazards? People road rage my dump truck big time and ride 3" off my rear in it thinking they can get me to go faster. You drive a geo that fast over here, like in vegas and your not going to live long. East coast roads must be super slow like horse speeds I'm guessing?

As far as looking for more mileage. Have you tried running leaner with a wideband? Tricking the computer for 16-17:1 AF? Super lean and running E85 to cool detonation should make the Geo really go up in mileage.:)

Love the very old high 12 second SRT 4 combo BTW :thumb: As well as you drive with a real turbo (and fuel) you should be 11s heavy and 10s light

the correct way to drive a 12 second SRT 4 on the highway, stock computer won't let you rev though :(

I bought the Geo to use as a delivery vehicle to replace the SRT4 back when gas was near $5 per gallon. I deliver the rims/tires I sell and can transport 8 245x45x17s mounted on rims...5 in the back seat, one in the hatch, and two where the passengerxseat was. This July 23rd will be two years of ownership and I have put over 30,000 miles on it. Those miles would have been on the SRT4! At 65 mph the car gets 52 mpg. I have bumped up the timing, but not enough to use premium. When the stock radio bit the dust I put in a Mopar one from a 05 Neon. I removed the useless center consol and put in a trimed up version from a 95 Neon so that I have REAL drink holders instead of ones that barely fit toddler sippy cups! It was hard to remove 132 lbs from it but now I am thinking of removing the dash (like Matchbox) and MAYBE use thin Lexan on all windows except the windshield. Right now it is 1590 lbs and every 100 lbs that I haul makes it loose 1 mpg. Removing the passenger mirror gains around 1 more mpg, but I reinstalled it for better visability. Getting rid of the rusted off cat and putting a resistor on the downstream 02 sensor (like a catless 98 Neon) gained 1 mpg too. Some guys are puting Honda 600cc motorcycle motors in them that have more HP, less wt, AND get better mpg!!!!

Funny, you found the same thing with the Geo. I had one, got 50 mpg no matter how hard I drove it, put a K@N, lost something like 2-3 mpg? :wow1: Went thru a few tanks, the same? so I traded my friends stock air filter and he ran the K@N, now he lost MPG and mine went back to normal. A POS of a car but great for commuting.

Mine is not a POS unless you are talking about a nice cruiser. I'd drive it around the US with no hesitation at all. I drive it as much as I can and it looks great for a Geo. A ton of cars from the same year and a lot less miles look a lot worse and would not be able to make a trip without troubles. I don't shoot for hi mpg ALL the time, just when I am not in a hurry. The grill block and headlight covers raised the top speed from 81 to nearly 90...what's that tell ya?:thumb::eyebrows::nod:

O course my SRT4 hits that in the 1/8th and Matchbox is 15 mph short of that at the end of a 1/4!

The new Chevy Cruze has a 1.4L turbo with 140 HP and is rated at 44 MPG, need to stick that in the Geo lol.

We are going with the fuel controller to hook up with a laptop....pull or put in timing where and when we want and raise the boost a ton.:eyebrows:

Diablosport is way easier and does the same thing.
Pull or add timing, fuel, boost, ect.
You can even datalog and make changes afterwords.
Does your fuel controller do that?
Most vendors have them for $299.
No splicing in wires, just plug into the OBD2 port
and flash.

A FIC added to my stage 2 no toys and using the S3 turbo will allow us to run 25-27 psi of boost and cost a lot less than a S3 set up.:eyebrows:
