I hate going on the srt forums, so I figure I should just ask here since there are some srt-4 owners on here...What oil do you recommend running in the trans besides the recommended atf?

Any synchromesh oil or Redline MTX I believe its called. Stay away from the gear oil type Redline.

Anything is better than the ATF they put in there. The only reason they used it is the people on the assembly line can't remember what fluid to put where so by using one fluid things don't get messed up.

the book says ATF+4 (and friction modifier if you have the LSD) thats what i'd use

Mopar MTL or Pennzoil equivalent. Possibly also Amsoil Synthetic Synchromesh MTL.

Not an SRT4 but I use Amsoil MTF in the Getrag in my PT Gt, works great, better than the ATF.

Heard that TD manual transmissions run on 5w 30 engine oil. Used some in my old A555 and seemed ok. Did not have the car on the road for long, as the car developed electrical gremlins.

Neons fair better with a synchromesh type lubricant. My personal fav is Amsoil, not to take anything away from other brands. Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30 seems to work ok for cars that do not see colder weather. Was pretty rough in the neon. Ran for a few months, then switch back to Amsoil. Big difference. All my neons run better year round with Amsoil.

Given the cost of replacing a T850 or G288, I'd use the most expensive brand available. The mopar mtx fluid is good. The ATF+4 was known to have been used to save money (i.e. not the best), so your should be in good hands using a synchromesh fluid.
