Hey Guys, i decided to take my nippo out of my shelby and replace the bearings on it as they were getting loud, too bad no body makes those bearings other then the manufacture....i wanted to put some american made ones in...but there such an odd size, you can't find them.

Well upon inspecting the altenator, i found that the brushes were preatty shot....i knew they wouldnt last much longer, so, i thought i was screwed and had to get a new altenator...well to my suprise, i strooled onto a website that has every rebuild part for this alt....both 90 and 120 amp...sweet! I ordered up both of the bearings and the brushes...

Thought i'd share my find....i spent a total of 25 bucks plus shipping.
Heres the site:

Maybe i should do a write up on how to rebuild these? Got mine tore apart now...only real special thing you need is a special puller for one of the bearings...

Good find. I recently found this Nippondenso how-to on a Jeep forum:

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/rebuilding-nippon-denso-alternator-00-01-56041822aa-835511/

I decided I'd rather just have a local shop that specializes in alternators and starters rebuild for me. I have three ND alternators and they are supposed to call when they have them apart so I can pick them back up and have the cases powder coated.

look for a chrome alt for a ram 5.2/5.9, im sure they are around, chrysler used the nippo alt on like every engine they made

edit- Ill also add that a gm AD244 case should work too, they had the same mounting point style, with the bolt holes right across from each other, they make a one wire too so no need to worry about the field wires

A good write-up wouldn't be bad at all! I would like to learn how to take mine apart and rebuild it!

Any idea which bearings are for the 90-120 amp alts?

Guess I am lucky, where my shop is, there is a starter/alternator shop, he has all these parts in stock,

What i did, is take the bearing out, then measured them and got the correct ones from that site.
