I am interested in making a cal for an 87 Shelby Lancer

What computer do i need to socket? Does it have to be a T2? or can I use a T1?

I'm pretty sure you need an 87 T2. The reason being that the 87 T1 still used the log manifold and suck through throttle body with the old style AIS motor. The T2 had the upgraded AIS electronics.

In 88, with the one piece intake and smec's for both T1 & T2, they all had the newer style TB & AIS.

ive used 87 T1 ecus and socketed them and they had all the extra components on the board.... not all have them though but if its a late 87 it should.

i should take a pic of one of them when i get home and post it up and then you can compare.

shoot me a PM.

wait a sec.... is the car an auto? if its a stick it should be a t2 already.

I have heard a rumor that a GLHS ECU will work in a Lancer? I think it is bogus but i am just checking

no.... the glhs ecu is a special 86 ecu.... i mean you could repin the LM plug but your cal choices are severely limited at this point. the only one i know of that makes a 86 +40% 3-bar cal is matt wright.

ok cool thanks!

So I can use the 27SF512 chips in the LM too right?

Thats wrong, I have used one in my shelby lancer 689 manual trans. I pulled the S2 from the GLHS and it went right in and started to work flawlessly.

Now thats with me only taking it out and popping other back in but I did in fact use my 87 GLHS LM just fine. 86 maybe different but I know cuz its still in the lancer now but the car was in a hit and run and so its just been sitting in storage since.

yeah i think the 86 will run a 87 but there are a few pins that are connected differently. CEL, speed sensor etc.

i thought the glhs computers were all internal map? all the other 87 non l-body cars had external maps?

and i thought 86 and glhs computers use 2 chips that you have to burn?

oh yeah, forgot about the internal map stuff for the 86.

yeah 87 was all external map other than GLHS.

the 86 does have 2 chips.

just go 87.
