Recently I was going through some of my parts and decided to open the case on two TIII SBEC computers I have. One looks normal inside, the other looks like the chip was dug out of the potting (both sides) and then resealed with silicone or something. There is no identification or stickers anywhere on the case. The potting no longer adheres to the case and the whole board can be lifted right out of the plastic housing, unlike the other one I have which is stuck in there good.

I'm pretty sure I got this when I bought my white Spirit R/T a couple years ago. It was in the back seat with some other parts and the previous owner claimed it had to have the computer replaced. The SBEC that was installed in the car seemed to work fine and had Mopar reman stickers on it. The white R/T had some other mods like AFPR and a Super 70 turbo on it so I think it might be some aftermarket cal? Anyway to know for sure or should I send it to somebody? The guy I bought the car from didn't know anything about the car, much less the mods it had.

The cal can be read off the chip to a PC on the bench, without removing the chip at all. You can then look at the binary to see if there are any signatures on it or anything. Or, do a hex compare to a stock cal to see how much was changed.

Crap I don't have any of that stuff. To tell you the truth I really don't know anything about chips/socketing etc.....maybe I could just send it to you? I'm building a 2.5L TIII and would love to have a cal for it....probably something with a toned-down spark curve so it doesn't pop headgaskets if I turn up the wick.

I could for sure read the cal off it. I'm not sure I could do a 2.5 T3 cal yet, though. I did one for Simon - but it was a SMEC cal and used the distributor. And, it wasn't 100% right.

OK. Well I could send it anytime if you're game. I would plug it in and see if it works on my Spirit R/T but I'm not even sure if it's 2 or 3 bar. The 2.5L I'm doing is for my SL and already converted to SBEC; it actually has one of your modded 8v SBECs in it right now. I plan to do a few minor wiring harness changes under the hood and run TIII electronics when I drop the new drivetrain in.

Sure send it on, I'll read the cal for you...
