Looking to purchase a set of replacement hatch struts for a Shelby Charger. Can anyone recommend a make/brand that will last longer than 2-3 years?

We've had really poor luck with them and have been thinking of trying a set of Stabilus, which are supposedly made by Sachs. Anyone have any feedback on this brand, or possibly recommend a good one?

Also, does anyone know whose hatch strut Mopar was installing back in the day?

Thanks--

I don't know what was factory original, but I got mine from Rock Auto and after two years the hatch will still lift by itself on a real hot day.

For me, it is the really cold days :D

But it would be good to know for my louvered/spoiler hatch on my turismo

When you look it up on Rock Auto, they have options for whether your hatch has a spoiler and/or louvres.

ditto that on cold weather opening. Or they just quit after a couple of years and the warranty is up.

Noticed O'Reilly's offers Limited Lifetime on two of the (three) models for the Charger, but not sure about Mighty-Lift brand.

I got mine at Princess auto in 2k4-2k5...I still have to rip pretty hard on the hatch to get it to close. :D

They are similar to these - http://www.princessauto.com/surplus/miscellaneous-surplus/miscellaneous-surplus/8269011-gas-shock?keyword=shock

..but mine had some sorta plastic end on the screw end that I had to drill so I could use them.

I paid a little over $25/strut for my omni at least 5 years ago at Napa and they are still going strong. I don't know the brand off hand though.

There probably from AVM industries. They make pretty much all aftermarket branded and OEM lift supports.

Yeah I got mine at the local auto store and they have no problem holding the hatch up. I don't hve louvers but it's not that much extra weight.
