Long shot but here goes:

Kenny Papa of Papa's Dodge, New Britian, CT asked me to see if anyone had a lead on the location of these two cars.

Back in 1986, these two cars were used for coast-to-coast racing, and raced at Lime Rock Park in CT. Both were raced-preped by Carroll including roll cages, for stock-class racing that year.

After that racing season, Kenny purchased both cars and sold them as used vehicles from his Shelby-authorized dealership, since his franchise was approved in the fall of 1986, too late to obtain any of the new 1986 GLHS cars.

If anyone has any information please send it to me so I can pass it along to Kenny. Thanks.

There was an all black (no decals) GLHS belonging to a staff member at the University of Rhode Island. I have pics somewhere, and I am almost positive it was #048. This was way back in 93-94 time frame.

that registry has a lot of accurate info, and a few cars that need updated (ie: #015, #088).

JT: r-u saying that pix is of #047? still owned by craig st. pierre?

Neil: do you know if the registry is right on #048?

I talked to Kenny briefly a couple days back. Apparently the car had a cage in it, 5 point harness etc. I've never seen any evidence on the car that the car was at one time caged, nor have I ever seen any pictures of the car from its past (I believe I am the fifth owner and have had the car for ten years and counting). I know the previous owner did not take the cage out, and seem to remember that the third owner did little with the car. In my collection of archive info I have very little on the factory racers, so any info would be appreciated.

Paperwork I have shows the car was sold through Fitzgerald Dodge with an in service date of Sept 26/86. So if the car was raced it may have been a semi-factory effort, then the cars were sold to Papas Dodge, then sold as used. Kenny Papas recalls the cars were sold with the race equipment intact so that would suggest the purchaser of the car from Kenny removed the gear. There are a couple things on the car I would call 'suspicious' like a set of brackets for a non-factory rear sway bar.

I'll drop Kenny a line this weekend so he has all my contact info. He said he has some old photos and video of the car in action buried somewhere but, he thought unlikely he'd have any other paperwork. I think Kenny was interested in purchasing the car but, without all the original equipment he seems less interested.

Thanks again for the connection Marcus, I'm sure something good will come out of this.

Does the name Douglas Glazier mean anything to the historians on here?

Craig that is great that you called Kenny and got to exchange information about your car. I've encouraged Kenny to join this website since he has so many interesting stories about these Shelby cars from a dealership perspective.

If you get those old pix from Kenny and can scan and post them it would be great to see those.

Fitzgerald Dodge in NH sure did sell a lot of the 86S cars, mine also came out of that dealership.

Never heard of Doug Glazier who was he?

I think Rob Maxon has 048. He told me it was one of two cars that came with a cage in it. But that was back in the early 2000's. That assumes that bastard is still alive and if he is and is found I think alot of people want to kick his --- for the money he took from them including myself.

Just did a search on the IRC #shelby channel, yep Rob Maxon had 048. He was last on #shelby 2775 days ago which is 7.6 years.

thanks, I'll let Kenny know about #048.

Craig you going to track down Mr. Glazier to get the full story on #047?
