I have decided to make polyurethane engine mounts for the Dodge Cummins diesel pickups for 1989-93. Just thought I would post here in the diesel section to let you know that's the project I am working on right now.

Ever thought of later years like 94-03 I don't need them yet , but i am throwing more coal at the fire . there will come a day when the rubber mounts will give out

Yes, just might happen one day. Right now I don't even know what they look like.

The stock style and my new design.....

Is this it?

I believe so.
Even a new press in insert would work. saving manufacturing the bracket part.

I have a 03 common rail. Not sure if the mounts are different for the non common rail or not.If you need pics or anything let me know.It has 221k on it and I havent had any mount issues yet.

03 common rail

Is that something different than the other 93's?

1989 to 1993 are the same.

Johnny - he's saying 2003 - not 1993...LOL!

I'm pretty sure the mounts changed again in 03 with the redesign of the 2500/3500 body that year. So 94-02 are definitely the same mount, but I think 03 and newer are yet another style.

:banghead:Oh yeah, you are right. Concentrating on what we were talking about not what he was saying. Sorry.

I wanted to see if I could make the mold for these. So a friend that has some milling machines helped me make some slots in some aluminum. Still need to weld them.

Those 89-93 Diesel mounts look a lot like the mounts on my 85 D150. Are they the same?

V8? 85 D150

V8 mounts are very similar but are a little thinner and a smaller rectangle. But would fit in the same location.

Tell us more!

When are they going to be available and how much do you want for them?

And wouldn't that transfer a lot more vibration from those big honkin' rattle traps?

Tell us more, tell us more!

Sometime in February I should have them ready. Need to put the test pieces in and test them first. Price should be $99 to $139 a pair. I know, lower the better, but I need to know all my costs before I know the final price.

And wouldn't that transfer a lot more vibration from those big honkin' rattle traps?
That is what part of the testing is about. For these heavy engines I need to use 70 durameter. Is that hard enough to cause the engine vibration into the truck cab? We test and see!

I worked on the diesel mont mold again yesterday evening, hope to get it welded today. I don't have something to weld aluminum with, so I need to take it to have it done.

Let us know when they are done. If you think they will work on a V8 I might need to try a set. The new engine along with the Ramcharger fuel tank are starting to tear the mounts after 200 miles. I love it!

Got the first set done and installed in my 92. It is A70 durameter and the vibration at idle is not something people would be happy with. I will install a softer A60 next and see how that one works out. Here is a photo of them....

Installed the softer A60 mounts and a very noticeable improvement. I am very pleased with these!
