Went this morning to pick up my SC from the shop that was painting it. Overall I feel he did a really good job. The paint really shines in the sun and the car looks completely different. Not a super expensive perfect job, but a good professional quality paint job that will last until I finish college and can afford to restore the car 100%.

lol wtf? I see that too! Thats weird.. But thanks for the compliments!!

Also I got a question for you guys. Should I put the shelby decals on or not? I'm kinda digging the clean look. Theres no badges except for the two pentastars and the Shelby decal in the window lol

Man...looks great! I've never seen that color in good condition, and, I must say, I like it a lot more now...lol And, from what I can see...that paint job looks like it will last more than just a few years...looks very professional.

We do need to meet up whenever I get my GLH done and painted...West coast of FL Turbo Mopes representin'...lol

Probably by the end of the month I'll have her done :p

EDIT: also...my personal opinion...I like the shelby decals...just because it identifies the car...but, then again, it does look good clean as well. Your call.

But, I need to get it done so I have a cheap daily...so, looking like soon. (as in, within the next month)

Oh, 2.216VTurbo implied that it wasn't I though, and then it made me look at it like it was more 'red' than maroon...

looks awesome. you gotta look around for them, but there is a pretty big group of TM guys down there. I was part of it when I went to UTI in 0rando. FSDAC, they try to have meetings once a month, great bunch of guys. also look up KJ (theblackbaron) as he is a pretty big TM guru down there and pretty nice guy.

Oh lol. I realized I came across as kind of a dick with my response. Sorry about that. But my painter said it is indeed the factory paint code, so I assume its the factory red. Ive seen very few red and silver shelby chargers so I cant really compare it to anything haha

Looks like he didn't round the rear stripe on the hatch, I don't think it ended like that...also take a look at your wiper arms, they are too high in the park position, probably cause they got removed during painting.

I agree, get the strips back on, it looks naked with out them. And yeah I agree the rims would pop if they were refinished. Looks great though, nice to see that someone spent some time restoring one of these, most on here simply are all about speed, and you have my kudos for the body work!

You're correct, they don't end like that, the stripe rounds off right before the edge of the hatch.

To be honest, I think your painter should fix the rear for free. Looks like he messed up...

And yes on the decals. The rims may cost about $600 to refinish, so that's another big ticket item.

As someone who has been trying to get the bodywork straight and clean on one of these, its seems to very difficult due to the poor quality sheet metal. But I need to go to a car show and look at everyone else's this year, maybe at Carlisle.

Someone asked before - were the silver pinstripes around the silver center stripe painted on? Mine were - they make those stripes.

Decals will come when I get enough money, I'm broke now lol

not hating but did he install the wipers in the wrong place, cause they are up higher then they should be, hell maybe you just shut the car off with them in that position

I think its because my wiper arm bushings failed me and the linkage popped off so thats where I had the wipers placed. And they might have been reinstalled incorrectly. That will all be fixed this weekend when I get some new bushings on there lol

After seeing the pics now I know how he gave you such a good price on paint...

He probably didn't remove the plastic front bumper cover, hence the overspray on the a/c condensor/radiator. If he didn't remove the bumper covers, chances are he probably didn't use a flex agent for the paint on the front and rear clips either, just sprayed the car all at once.

I'm not trying to burst your bubble bro, although it looks really nice in the pics, now I can see how he could do it for such a low price. I'm just really detail oriented about this kinda stuff.

It's just that to really remove all the plastic parts and de trim the car is very time = labour = $ intensive.

I still give you major props for restoring the car, just stuff to remember for when you get another car painted someday.

Still glad you had it painted, it looks great. Thats the way I did my first one, now I'm doing my 2nd R/T at triple the price and I stripped it down myself.
