Simon keeps telling me to start a project log cause he thinks it will keep me motivated and help get my car done sooner, and he's probably right, so here it is.
19797

The car is a 85 omni that was originaly a carb car. Around 2003/4 I swapped in a 2.5 t1 from a caravan and spliced all the wiring to get the smec harness to work in the car. I used 3 cold start injectors and disconected the vacuum hose to the wastegate and a volvo intercooler (extremely primitive). the thing looked really REALLY bad! but it ran well and I managed a 13.67@100.11
with it.

Well stupid me I left it sitting all winter and never bothered to drain the water and come spring I had a cracked block:(

So I decided to start fresh and build it right this time, no more halfa$$ed gerry rigging.

The last 4 years I have been collecting parts for this thing and now it's finaly getting to the point where I can start assembling it!

Yeah I was just on the track website and racing starts april 12th!

No mitsu or volvo intercooler this time around:D.

So far it's got a big valve head that Tyler ported, Simons s60 roller cam, custom intake made by Aaron, and a he351vgt, and I'm working on a megasquirt II for it.

Theres obviously alot more too it than that but those are the main power pieces.

I have the bottom end all together but, thanks to some helpfull members on here who pointed out that the piston pin locks I used are not good for high hp motors, it's gotta come back apart and proper locks put in.

heres a few more pics of the motor

Well I've had a slight change of plans on the omni.
I have 2 omnis one was going to be a street/autox car and the other a drag car.
My original plan was to use this engine in the drag car and to use a 2.2 tII in the street car. But the 2.2 for the street omni is already rebuilt with forged pistons and tII rods and all arp studs a rebuilt stock head and a new stock t3 turbo. I bought it off a local guy that was getting out of TDs and he said all it needed is a headgasket.
So since I have to pull the head off anyhow I decided i'm going to use the 8 valve head for the race engine and put it in the street car.
For the race engine I'm now going to go with a hybrid setup.

I think I change my mind more often than a chick:(
The car I was going to be using as the autocross car is rusted out beyond repair. I took out the interior and the floor pans and firewall are rotten. The front subframe on the passenger side isn't even connected to the rest of the car at the back! So it's going to the scrapper.

Now My entire race engine is going back together and being put into another car I'm buying(details later) mated to an a568 with an lsd.

well I don't want to say too much until the car is actualy in my possesion.
I got my deep sump oil pan in the mail today and my cometic headgasket should be here any day now so I can finish putting my motor together.
