Anybody ever made a Shelby Dakota Convertible Clone

I have been mulling this over in my mind for a while and I may have an opportunity to buy a Dak convertible.
Wondering if anybody has done this or has pics of one done?

Somebody did most of this. Was a red convertible, Shelby decals, I think wheels, maybe front grill badge. I know they did not have the fairly-difficult-to-locate Shelby front valence, they still had the standard Dakota Sport piece, and of course the fiberglass Shelby aero-bar is incompatible with the Dakota convertible's top.

Supposedly only 50k and has a blown motor. Been indoors since 92. Blew the motor in 2000

Problem is the V8 that came in the Shelby Dakota's was rated about the same as the Magnum V6. You could do the Shelby graphics, skip the racer back and drop in the motor of your choice. Someone say Hemi? Yeah I did. :thumb:

Awesome but done twice that I've seen. Carroll did a TT in 89 then Marko R. did a stompin 360 S Dak in like 92-93:thumb: Both were cool tho the rear tires on Carrolls rig makes it look a lil goofy:D

I hadn't seen a Hemi dropped in a Shelby before but that is a nice swap! It looks very factory and a stock setup in that lighter truck makes for a quick ride already.

Convertible Dakotas are just cool.

That hemi Shelby Dakota is in Washington state. I have some more pics of it that I'll post later on with a story on it. I talked to the owner for a good 15-20 mins on the truck.

Ok so some info on that shelby dakota. Its a 2004 Hemi motor, running a stock PCM and the TIPM from the 2004 to manage the motor/trans and underhood functions. The guy made all of the underhood wiring harnesses in his garage. A/c system works, it has electric fans mounted on a truck rad. Inside has a digital dash from a 88 Dakota added in (uber rare!!) but other than that it's all stock. The truck has completly disassembled, peainted and put back together. The quality of work on this thing is incredible, he has a book with detailed pictures and nothing was looked over on the build. That's about all I remember about the truck, it's been about a year and a half since I've seen it.

That Hemi Shelby Dakota is awesome!!!

I just sold my Dakota convertible. It was a fun truck, but even with headers and some other mods that 3.9 is still a bit under powered.
