I bought this car about 2 years ago for $500. It was in ok condition. Hell, I drove the car back home 50 miles. The body of the car is solid, though, the floorpan of the car needs MUCH work. I hope my rear quarter panels aren't too bad.

It is a 1990 ES with maroon interior, 2.5L TBI auto. Body has about 180K miles and the engine, according to the previous owner, was recently swapped out with a 100K mile junkyard engine. The engine runs beautifully and I can actually make my tires squeal from a stop! Whoo hoo!

These are pictures of the floor pan restoration. I was only able to do the passenger side before my brother booted me out of his garage (he had to start working on my father's car). This upcoming summer I plan on finishing the driver's side and any other place that is rusting.

I bent all the sheet metal myself with a "custom made" sheet metal bender me and my brother made. Lol, it involved just clamping the sheet metal in-between two square steel pipes and clamping that to a bench table. The bends came out much better than I anticipated. My welding job wasn't all that great. I made sure it was all solid though. Didn't really care about making it pretty since it the ground effects and carpet will cover it all.

I made one mistake right here. Since there was none of the original sheet metal in this area, I didn't know how it was supposed to look. I assumed that the lip goes all the way to the wheel well, but the lip actually disappears to make room for the fender. I don't know if I should just take a sledge hammer and flatten out the lip, or if I should cut, bend, and reweld...

I then laid down a layer of POR-15 on the top and bottom.

After the one layer of POR-15, I filled in all the seems with seam sealer. (sorry, no pictures of that yet) After I'm done with the driver's side, I'm going to sand everything down and put on a second layer of POR-15 or Chassis-Saver.

My plans are to make the entire car fully digital. I already have a nice digital dash installed. I need a premium BCM to make the oil pressure, temperature, and fuel gauges function properly. But the Speedometer, tachometer, and voltmeter work beautifully.

Two weeks ago, I finally got my hands on a complete ATC system!

I have two ATC Computer Panels:

A BIG thanks to Russ! I found pictures of his Daytona online years ago and the car is a big inspiration to me. And as luck would have it, he's local to me! If it wasn't for Russ, I wouldn't have know that the ATC setup could be put into a Daytona.

Hey Jakub if you want that premium BCM from the 90 TI GTC you can try it out and maybe we can make some sort of a trade or something.

BTW great job on the fab work! I thought people were supposed to just throw these cars away when they got that rusty :D

I installed a 2-button traveler in my green Daytona and have LOVED it. I glace at that thing every other minute that I'm driving. What sucks, is that I have to turn my head ALL THE WAY down to see it, and then I have to cycle through all the functions to see the average MPG and instantaneous MPG. I decided that I'm going to mount not one, but 3 2-button travelers somewhere in better view. This way I can set each one to display a different function. Where I am going to mount them is a secret, but hopefully I get around to that project sometime in the next few weeks :thumb:

Maybe we should throw THOSE PEOPLE away instead of the cars. Hahaha! Hey, I enjoyed fixing the floorpan and perfect way for me to learn and practice welding and fabrication.

I would LOVE to work something out to get that premium BCM. Just let me know if you need anything or how much you'd want for it. Thanks for the kind words!

Paul, the GTC has an analog dash. He'll need the BCM out of a digital dash vehicle.

that's some good work you did on that car
if you get the 91 up center console you can mount the 2 button in this one too:thumb:
any body shots of it?

I have a few very poor body shots that I'll post when I get home. I plan on fabbing up my own center console, one that actually HAS cut holders! But like I said, I have a place already set aside for the travelers. I want to keep my center console empty for anything else I'd like to put.

Hey, sounds like you know information on the subject matter. From what I've heard, the car didn't necessarily need to have had a digital dash. The GTC came with the EVIC system, meaning that the BCM has all the extra inputs that I need. Which is fuel level, oil pressure, and temp. I just need a BCM that has those accomodations.

Paul, if you wouldn't mind, could you bring the BCM to the next meeting so I can check the wires going to the BCM? You did snip off the pigtails, right? I was too cold to notice, lol. I was told that there are only two BCMs available, the regular and premium. There is no difference from one premium BCM to another. At least, we'll all confirm this if Paul would be so kind as to let me test it one day.

Sure yeah I'll bring the BCM and yes I grabbed the pigtails. Also wanted to mention that the GTC this came from was still in the yard as of Monday...I just knabbed all four calipers, rotors, and pads since they appeared to have low miles. :)

But it probably won't be there much longer as they were rotating stock. Honestly I'm surprised it's been there this long.
