John and I had a great time BSing about Mopars on our trip today. Also had the great fortune of meeting Wes and his family as we checked the IROC out for the first time.

Here's a few pics...we had to stop and clean it off at the car wash before dropping it at John's house, but it sure cleaned up nice! The floors in this thing are super solid...with a little more elbow grease this car is going to be an eye catcher :thumb:

Man I wish I could find a better pic of my (wife's) old 89 Shelby Daytona. My first born son came home from the hospital in that car. I miss that car. ..and I hate road salt.

Funny thing about that picture is that it was right after I put a new starter in it, a non-functioning new starter. I was so pissed I never replaced it. I just push started/hill started it for the next year and a half. I quit using the car about a month after the reverse lockout release broke.

where do i get booger bushings?

You could order them directly from Jeff. Since he lives in Wisconsin, reg mail is usually 2 days. Nice guy too. I had a bunch of partial kits (from always only doing the trans side) and he sent me all large bushings (for the same $) so I could make more "trans side kits" with my leftover small bushings.:thumb:

Just google booger bushings and you'll get his site. Not to take anything away from Cindy (I did order one set through her with other stuff so I saved $2 on shipping), you'd just get them sooner for the same $.

Hey John unfortunately I wasn't able to successfully jumper the fuel pump in my 92, so I can't explain how you should do it on your 91...I know it's a pretty simple thing to do but what occurred has me puzzled.

I removed the relay labeled "fuel pump", found which wire was hot, then ran a jumper directly across and nothing happened. To top it off, with the relay removed I turned the ignition on and the fuel pump primed!!!

Maybe my fuse block cover is misprinted :confused2:

IIRC it has to do something w/ the ASD relay???? mabye it switches over to fuel pump relay when running???

i do remember reading something somwhere about the ASD relay and making the pump hot...

what i was saing on that intake, as long as its off, id, take a dremal, grinder, or even some heavy grit sandpaper, and smooth out the intake runners. if u put your finger in there ull notice it rough real rough, if u felt mine befor i put it on it was like glass, abd the same w/ the exhaust side too, i didnt open it up at ll but just smoothed it out... tri to get as far up there as u can, on the onepiece its really the runners that matter.... unless its a 2 piece... then u can do it all.... might even be a good time to open the 90* turn for a 52 mm TB too...

oh and p/u some copper spray, by permatex... use it on the new int/exh gasket, and if u p/u a MLS head gasket...

no gasket on the ex mani to the turbohousing... a thin skim layer of bearing greese, is all u need....

i have never drove a car with a bad turbo and that's what my friend said it might be so i took his word for it i didn't know how if would feel if the turbo went bad
i only drove it around the block when i thought more about it i figured it has to have just been bad fuel it stalled every time i stopped at a stop sign and the only other reason i was having problems is because my battery terminals where as tight as they could be and still where still very loose on the battery as i was driving everything kept dimming

blk86trbo
01-09-2010, 09:06 AM
How much fuel was in the car when you got it running? That stuff could be years old.

It might be best to take off a fuel line, run it into a bucket, and jumper the coil to pump all the old stuff out.

i am going to drain the tank cause it was not empty at the gas station i went to put some fuel in it and it took about a buck before it was filled up
I'm lost right now
today i changed the fuel filter
put new gas in it
with fuel stabilizer
got proper battery terminals
changed the alt belt
and drove it to the gas station around the corner and it died..
the battery was drained
so it has a bad alternator on it i assume
and on the 3 block ride there it got a flat tire so i had to go get a tire before pushing it home cause it wouldn't jump

i need help

Lol, no I meant what style, as in Bosch, Chrysler, NipponDenso? Just wondering because I have a lower amp Chrysler on mine, which seems odd for such a heavily optioned car. And it does seem to have trouble keeping up sometimes when I've got a lot of accessories going.

i don't know if its the larger or smaller one
same style and size as the factory one off of the 90 ES

have not updated this in awhile
the cars running great now
aside from the trans noise
here is some of what i have done

i changed the alternator first because the one on there was shredding belts and not charging
oil change fuel filter air filter plugs wires cap... all that stuff
had to partially redo the sub harness because someone used butt connectors that corroded so had to cut some parts and solder shrink tube
i did vacuum lines and removed all the emissions junk and cruise control
i took it out and got a flat so i just threw the SRT wheels on it for now
i have rear shocks but don't have anything to cut the top bolt out so waiting on doing that
yesterday and today i removed all the interior pressure washed the carpet down and cleaned it all up and then put it back together
pressure washed the engine
fixed the front ground effect
im sure i am forgetting plenty
most of this stuff is not done yet in the picture

i need to get my painted

Well, he did the paint work in trade for me wiring up some gauges in his car. Beyond that, I've got about $150 in paint and supplies, and it cost me $200 to have the factory powder coating sandblasted off.

John if you need a set of Pumpers painted I got a local place that will blast and powdercoat them for around $125. They do all of mine:thumb:

They aren't name brand tires and I can't remember. They would be good to roll around as they have really good tread. The tires are the stock size 205 55r16's

What threw me was the cost to sandblast them. When I had the silver pumpers done for my Charger last spring, it was only $70. Now I had tried stripping those with Aircraft Stripper, but after three cans had done little more than etch the surface, I gave up and had them blasted. Still, it must have softened the coating a little bit. The white ones I just took straight in, and the shop said it took them about seven hours to get them stripped. It's a shame I had to go through all that actually. The wheels were in really excellent condition, they were just kind of yellow with age. Now they look better than the paint on the rest of the car.

It just never ends.

Lol, no I never did get any pics of the interior posted. It looks terrible right now. I've got the ratty old gray floor mats from my old car in it from winter, and the whole car needs a severe detailing. Poor car took a beating over this winter. I'm not going to put the black mats back in until we get a few more good rains, the parking lots at home and work are still covered in sand, gravel, and salt. I'll get some pics when I get the new tires mounted, hopefully in the next few weeks.

This weekend got the motor mounts in and Solid Bobble strut
went to PnP got new boost pipes cause i discovered a few holes this weekend :o
FINALLY got a pass side mirror
got a brand new imitation shift knob from the JY just pulled the torn up leather off of a Neon Knob
next is shocks and struts
was to late to take any pics i have a very crappy one of the mirror that's it

What is your opinion on having new mounts (solid front, filled side and filled pass side) along with a solid bobble strut for drive-ability?

supercrackerbox
05-03-2010, 01:37 PM
I put those mounts in mine a few weeks ago. There was a slight increase in vibration at idle, but it was definately worth it. My old mounts were still factory with 135K on them, and they were SHOT.

I've decided I might as well leave the old gray mat in since it's a daily driver. The black mat is safely tucked away in the garage.

http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o298/supercrackerbox/91%20Daytona/Daytonainterior004.jpg

Headliner is starting to come down, but it could be a lot worse for the car's age and mileage.

http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o298/supercrackerbox/91%20Daytona/Daytonainterior005.jpg

Back seats have no visible wear.

http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o298/supercrackerbox/91%20Daytona/Daytonainterior006.jpg

Cheap aftermarket shift knob. I don't really care for the looks, but it's comfortable and saves wear on the factory leather knob which is also in storage. Also, the leather steering wheel is all but perfect under that cover.
