Well, guys i finally broke down and just decided to get a nice car for my DD. Im going to retire my lebaron for dd duty. And get something different, but still dodge. I always had a heart for 99-04 jeep grand Cherokee. I'm just in love with the I6 motors their really reliable engines and simple to work on. So, i have been looking around and found a few to my taste it an 04 with 53,000 miles and the color just made me gruel!, took it for a test drive and it fit me perfect and fell in love, it was onyx green pearl, a very unique color i have never seen. it look like gun metal gray sorta say. it was just a tad out of my price range so i'm still looking.. hope fully next week ill have one in my drive way

They are a decent engine. I'd rather have a V8 though.

I'd take the 4.0 over the V8 any day.

Can't beat the nice torque of that motor and the reliability.

Thanks. this is seriously happening hopefully in a couple weeks ill be getting one. just having a "loan situation" nothing serious and in the mean time of that i've been looking for the perfect jeep but none seem to catch my eye. i mean i seen some sexy jeeps but either has no sun roof or its two tone (black/gray panels) or perfect color with v8 leather....what im looking for is a all black/I6/moon roof/black cloth interior...with either the freedom package/limited/special edition for 12,000ish OTD... if you have any leads let me know im willing to travel some...

I love my 4.0l. I don't like how ponderous the WJ GC's feel, so I got a Cherokee(XJ). Seems alot more nimble though thats relative for a live axle SUV.

I like both but if your not towing the I6 is just as good and better on fuel, :thumb:

Update:

well folks i finally bought my jeep. I drove 200 miles with the wife down to New Jersey and picked up a 04 jeep grand Cherokee freedom package. Its midnight blue, factory powder coated gun metal wheels. selectable 4wd, moon roof, cd changer, I6, 114,000 miles, running bars, roof rack, for a very reasonable price. ive had my eye on this truck for about a month. Know truck that i drove in ct compared to this truck. I just knew i had to have!!!!. ill post pictures tomorrow

i gave it her first oil change!. i checked the oil's before i left NJ and the oil seem too black. But the tranny fluid seem fresh and smelled brand new!. So on my day off i made the switch to 10w30 royal purple i can see the engine is starting to clean up. after 250 miles i can see the motor oil is lightly starting to get darkish. My lebaron was never like that tho...

But what im afraid of is, i hope they didn't put the wrong tranny fluid in the truck. Because i noticed they put the wrong anti-freeze in, its suppose to be G-05 instead of regular green. on my day off i also changed the drive belt (original), sucked out the old power steering fluid and brake fluid for fresh new one so i can get by for winter.

- i know i keep saying this but i will get pictures up soon

Just a note for you. Mopar has just released a stroker version of the 4.0L Jeep engine. It's a 4.7L I6! So if you ever replaced or upgraded the engine, you could still have the inline six but have the size and power of the V8 that also came in these Jeeps!

 Not wanting my 4.0 to go, but when it does, it'll be getting that upgrade. People have been stroking them with 4.2l internals for years, but a crate motor sounds like a better idea.

4.2 are from the wrangler correct. the 4.0 has plenty of power to get out of harms way and it mates perfect with a 4x4. I used the 4x4 for the first time yesterday and i was having such a blast!!!

Update:

I finally gave him a name, his name is Jersey Boy aka Guido.

I had it for 5 months now and he is such a blast. He is so comfy and i just love driving it. He has 118,000 miles on it and all i did was the brakes. But as Any WJ jeep ownes, i saw that i had a leaky wheel seal. so, that is next on the list. I drove it back and forth to boston and he keeps on going. Gave him his second oil change and he's doing awesome.
