View Full Version : What are my options? Output shaft to ring gear teeth stripped off?

Title says it all, I don't want this happening again, :(

One thing, this has the hollow end, I have another tranny with the solid end. I will be using the solid one now but will the hollow end cause it?

Like I said in my other post, use the solid pinion next time. Also, if you can figure out which ratio has the most teeth on the pinion, I'd use that for possibly a little extra strength. My question is, why did the case break? I'm thinking the case broke, causing the teeth to come out of alignment and break off. Does this sound reasonable?

Possibly some of the grinding you did for clearance weakened it structurally, allowing it to deflect.

Nope, the teeth got stuck between the ring gear and case or ring gear and output shaft gear and the pressure was too much.
