You can see it all here. http://s279.photobucket.com/albums/kk124/Vigo327/Volvo/?start=all

Yeah, i wouldnt insult the amount of effort you have into the rampage by calling this volvo a fair trade. i DO wish someone would up and trade me for something more valuable though, so i could sell THAT! lol.

Drove her today around the block! It was fantastic. I need to drain some of the water and add some coolant, dimple one of the rear inner fender wells and fill her up with some good fuel!

Interior pics look awesome!!! Did you redo the door skin or is that the factory style. I like the sort of reverse angle on the fabric cuts, btw! VERY nice.

The door panels are actually stock Charger, but are almost opposite in design of the Rampage.

They were cleaned heavily and remounted as they were delaminating from 24 years of use, but otherwise stock.

THANKS!

Wanna buy it?

hehe, I wouldn't mind having one, but not in my plans at the moment. What year door skins? I've never seen any like that. Are the speaker grills stock as well? I do like very much though.

I believe they are 1984. They bolt up and everything. STOCK. Except for the 850w stereo. :)

Alternator does not seem to be working. I was just going to pick one up unless someone has an update for a better one or any advice.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT:

So I am guessing the 120A denso out of a later model Omni is a bolt and go affair?

Oh and looking for something that is fairly bolt in and new from the store. As you know I can weld and fabricate if need be. I just want a higher amp alternator for the system.

Thanks!

I upgraded a couple of my L bodies to the later Denso style alt. The harness end is different, need to do some fabbing there and the tension adjustment/mounting hardware is different as well. I just made a trip to the J yard, got all the mounting hardware and harness end, then got a rebuilt unit and traded in my old alt as core. Works great for the last 10 years. Considering my Charger GLHS had been thru 3 stock style alts in 35K miles still working after 10 years is saying something:eyebrows:

Man, cant believe how long your thread has gotten 54:hail:

Any late model Omni that has a Denso is a suitable donor for the mounting bits, say 89 or 90... However, I think the 120amp units were only in Minis with rear air etc.I think 90 amp was the highest rated L body set up. Mix and match, its easy

54inches
05-10-2012, 05:27 PM
Sweet, if you run across the mounting bits at a local jy, let me know how much as there are NONE around here. Can it be mounted with a turnbuckle/heims instead?

$6900, found a motorcycle that I want to chop, so something has to go! Needs an alternator and tires soon. I hope to get the alternator here shortly, so tires would be about it.

I have about 1000 pictures of the restore on facebook; not sure if you use it, but it is the best way to view all of the pictures.

I have every receipt in a binder with an excel spreadsheet of everything that was done.

It had a very nice stereo system, but I was tired of not using it, so I moved it over to my CTSV.

I am in the middle of installing a new alternator.

It has a new WP, front brake lines all new brakes(88 Daytona Z), plugs, wires, cap, rotor, rebuilt carb, exhaust and new battery.

I Herculined the bed after stripping the whole car, priming the bed and I rolled it on.

New windshield and custom cut rear glass. I am not happy with the rear glass, but oh well.

It needs tires, the emergency brake does not work, the doors do not lock and the passenger's will not open from the outside. I have tried to fix all of this, but have really lost interest in the vehicle.

The wheels are SRT4s that I media blasted and shot with single stage GM Artic White to match the car.

IT has an electric fuel pump from an early 80s escort.

Ebay coilovers and new struts up front; actually rides really well.

The rear has an axle flip, with a zero rate 1" lowering block. I am going to probably take the lowering block off OR I can leave it and you can get matching 205.40.17s all the way around the The rears are 21540.17s and rub the inside of the fenderwells.

All of the lights have been lightly tinted and cleared.

The headliners did come out of a Rampage, but I covered it in additional webbing so it would last another 20 years and then covered it in the skull and cross bones fabric.

I traded out the rearview mirror with one out of an S10 that was auto dimming and had two map lights. Works GREAT!

There is NO AC/HEAT in the car at all.

I removed the unit, but I still have it along with a few boxes of parts that will go with the Rampage.

I have the bed rails as well as another set of spare wheels.(donuts)

The floorboards and the roof areas have been replaced with good sheet-metal from donor cars, primed, welded, reprimed and covered in quality fiberglass based body filler. It was smoothed with a non-porous body filler.

New carpet, 2001 power-reclining VW seats, on Rampage manual rails.

1984 Dodge charge full console. I don't like it and would go back with something else as it does not fit well.

All interior plastics were cleaned, degreased and reconditioned in either black or white plastic dye.

White face gauges from the guy on here. New speedometer cable. New air cleaner and underhood hoses.

I think that about covers it.

I do need to get the title put in my name and get it inspected, but that is about it.[/QUOTE]

Needing some driveway and garage space for next few builds.

Helllo?

I liked this thread better when you were fired up about the Rampage.;) You attacked that thing with a real passion:thumb: But now you are discovering what many here have already experienced, you have too much into a TM project and it is hard to recoup your investement thru selling it. believe me, I know this pattern all to well:o When I got my TIII powered Rampage over 10 years ago, (First running TIII in an L body anywhere BTW;)) it came with $20K in reciepts, that guy was waaaayyy upside down as I only paid $1500. for the semi-running project. Now that I have just about COMPLETELY redone the truck(still ugly, needs paint/body before I even wanna drive it much:() I easily have $10K of my own money into it. Does anyone think I can get $30K for my Rampage:confused2:?? Heck, even $10K:confused:?? Didn't think so:o So I'll just keep it and get my $$ out of it by driving it occasioanlly...

So what happened to your passion for the Rampage, life? Family? Circumstance? Lot's of us have pushed that 'Ole project into a dark corner of the garage and waited years before the passion faound us again. That way you are not really 'out' the money you've put into it:D

I was asked to do this project and no real support except for the money.

I honed some of my rusty skills, but that was about it. lol

I am not a Dodge guy and never really had any passion for the vehicle.

I just wanted it done and out of my garage.

Little things have kept it off the road; like my CTSV, my new Bike project and spending time with the family.

Not looking to make money, or even break even, just want it done at this point.

In fact, if anyone wants any parts, I am willing to start parting it at this point, as I am not afraid to take the pile down to the junkyard and get $200 for it.

I was prepared to take a loss on this vehicle when we bought it.

It appears the market has really dried up for Rampages. lol

Oh well, it will either be sold in the next 6 months or I will have it sent to the crusher and just get scrap value for it......

Making friends and fans here with that post 54!:p I can respect the family angle keeping you from a project car, most of us with kids have been there:amen:We're just kinda regular folk here tho, maybe not so bad a s s as to have a CTS AND a bike project:hail:. Scrap it then, congrats on making a Rampage look like a ricer:p That painted interior is really the rage in the Honda circles in my region:nod: Enjoy your other exploits!...

Not trying to piss everyone off at all, just not my bag of goodies.

By me saying I am not a Dodge guy, that is in no way a bad thing or have any reflection on anyone here. Just a fact. I would buy a dodge long before a ford and WAY before an import!!!!!!

I am just not a dodge enthusiast and was trying to respond to your statement about sticking it away in the corner of the garage.

I would rather one of you enthusiast that have the passion for this car to have it in YOUR garage; at whatever price.

And I am regular folk too, and I have busted my --- for everything that I have, so not sure why you are getting all mad bro. lol (Had to do it!)

The CSTV had 90k on it when I bought it for $16k and the bike project is a 1980 Yamaha XS650 in boxes, so let's not get all crazy and think I have a 2014 CTSV and a new Duc or something.

lol

I don't think I painted really anything in the interior to make it look ricerish. Thanks for the bashing though; just making my skin thicker.

Black and white waterfall to compliment the lines of the interior is all.

To each their own I guess.

Still for sale, trade, or for parts.

To get any decent money out of this you really needed to do a turbo swap. It would have appealed to a lot more people I think. Even then, you are asking almost nice 89 CSX money (pinnacle of the TM world IMO) for a clean carb rampage... there may be a buyer out there but they are going to be hard to find. Id honestly stick it on ebay and take what you can get.

its pretty cool looking. to much into it not to keep it though. If you were not really into the TD scene or wanted to be, I dont understand why you embarked on the journey to begin with. These cars are fun to play with (like someone else mentioned...you may appreciate it and have more fun with it if you turbo'ed the thing) to think your gonna get much of anything back unless its a Whittier car, is kinda foolhardy. Im sure it must say in here somewhere your reason for building it.

Update: installed a new fuel pump, old one gave out.
Took a few measurements on the rear inner fender liner, wanting to run a wide tire out back for looks. With a bit of trimming I can fit a 235/50r17 out back and run a 225/45r17 up front. May lose the ez- inch block to lift it up just a hair.

Vigo
11-13-2013, 06:52 PM
235/50 is a pretty tall tire. My opinion is that it won't look right unless you are tucking a lot of tire back there but lifting the back would be going the wrong direction for that. Also, the 6" wide SRT wheels will not fit 225 and 235 tires very well. Are you planning to buy some different wheels? If so you might be able to find something with just the right width/offset to let you fill the available space with as much tread width as possible.

90droptop
11-13-2013, 10:50 PM
I ordered a 235/40, 235/50, 245/40
To test fit I am thinking of getting new rims also but I'm not a small car guy I've only ever dealt with large trucks and floatation tires in the 38" and larger range. Gonna stick with the 205/40 up front

Vigo
11-13-2013, 11:29 PM
Ok, the 40 series sidewall is WAY shorter than the 50 so i think you will be ok there.

90droptop
11-14-2013, 11:42 AM
The 235/40 is 1.85" shorter than the 50 @ 40psi on the rim with no weight on it. Both are 9.25" wide, which is 1.8" wider than the 205 that was rubbing so I need to clearance 2" and roll the outer fender a hair or 2

Vigo
11-14-2013, 12:05 PM
With tiny tires, changes like that are huge. <2" doesn't sound like a lot on paper but 'proportionally' that is the same amount of difference between a 35" and 39" tire. Looks-wise it is a big deal and this truck is all about the look. Make sure and post pics!!

Remember this truck is only 2300 lbs. You run 40 psi in those tires, and the centers will be bald in short order. I'd only run 32 psi max. Probably only run 30 in the rear. There is no weight in the back of these trucks.

Just as a basis of comparison, my Rampage is running 165/50/15's on the front, and 185/55/15's on the back. Obviously, your Rampage and mine are not set up the same, but in my mind, the tire sizes you are talking about are quite large for a Rampage's wheelwells. Also, if you remove that spacer block from the rear axle "flip", the axle will no longer be centered front-to-rear in the wheelwell. This phenomena is caused by the angle of the spring at the location where the axle is bolted.
